I'm not sure what is up with Google, but that road shown furthest west (52E) does not exist until what they show as 53 1/2E turns at about a 45 degree angle NW and then north again. That is where 52E is. The dirt tracks I mention just take off on the left side of the road, and head toward the hills.

El Camino Del Diablo (Rogue Trip) camping info.

I don't mind taking my chances in SoAZ. I've done it alot and never had a problem. (not saying it can't happen though) My wife and I backpacked across the southern part of Organ Pipe (no trails) and slept on the desert floor a stones throw from the border once :smilies27 It was incredible...

    Stealthy winch

Thanks guys! Vince, the Warn will not fit inside the confines of my bumper. This winch is a bit smaller (the warn bolt pattern is 10" x 4.5", the Ramsey is 4.88" x 4.5"). It is a bit faster than the M8000 also. This winch comes pre-wound with technora synth line. We weighed my bumper and I...

Deaver vs. Alcan for Tacoma Springs

I agree with what BX said. When I decided to get my Alcans, the Deaver service for the Tacoma scene was relatively new (at least on the internet) and they had just started making production leaf packs which started out as very flexy packs more for the lightweight (fast) desert trucks. At the...

This trip happened earlier this year, but I finally got a gallery posted for it. It was a really FUN trip and lots of people from this forum were there. Scott Brady did an awesome feast for us, and Goodtimes (Brian), Articulate (Mark... and Brooke too), & Viatierra (Greg) were there as well. We...

    Vehicle Security Measures

While people participate in this thread, just keep in mind that the info you share can be read by just about anyone. ;) Another useful security item can be found on my website - installing a hoodlock on a Tacoma (thanks to Steve for the write-up)

    Vehicle Security Measures

One day I went to a local store to get some things. When I came out to leave, my truck wouldn't start. After a lot of troubleshooting, I couldn't figure out what the problem could be. Finally, I walked over to a parts store and bought a new fuel filter. I laid under the truck in the parking lot...

trek to Rainbow Bridge, March 2006 (revised to Sycamore Canyon)

Sounds like an awesome adventure. I can't commit right now, but am definitely interested. Might I suggest people somehow meeting somewhere with secure parking, and driving a single, insured rental vehicle in to the Rainbow Lodge trailhead. The rental cost could be split amongst the travelers.
