    Rear Winch Wiring Opinions

Theoretically, as long as your battery is well grounded to the frame, there's no problem doing that as the resistance would be negligibly different. With high amp device like the winch, I like having a dedicated ground line straight to the battery, give the winch as much low resistance power as...

Yep, Really just interested in something that'll stop scrapes/ gouging. As Rayra said, more like a double hull.

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Rayra, Not sure if my posts were part of the info you had but I put in a stepper for the transmission gauge on both of my trucks (one of them is an ex) and one of them was plug and play the other had to be programmed (used an ebay tuner service) Works great. They even sell the backplates with...

    Tire pressure for trailer tires

I would think, as stated before, higher pressure would be better off road, for the simple reason of reducing friction (contact patch). Only caveats, is you need to run a low enough pressure to reduce chance of puncture by rocks and chunking (probably dependent on weight in the trailer and...

    I got here as fast as I could - '04 Suburban Z71

Lat year, I took a look at this and did it. I don't have pictures of the internals, but for the door latch I simply tied a string around one of the cables and drilled a small hole. You simply pull to the drives side and it undoes the latch if the truck is unlocked. For the window, same thing...

(Another) Forest Living Suburban Build Thread

Thanks! We got to finally get together soon. Luckily we didn't have to use any traction aids, except 4Low, good spotting, lockers, and reversing and trying again:) This was probably mostly due to it being pretty dry the whole week, except for one night of rain. - Thanks Tim!

That schematic was what caught my eye too. It looks the same as our tanks, and the same size as well. It must be the same, I don't know why Chevy would design two different ones and knowing the cheapskates they are, it would be surprising. I was thinking that metal, may just be too heavy. Over...

    Somewhat portable water filter

I'll make sure to get some pictures this weekend. Yep, returning from trips, I run a high bleach content flush through the pump. Haven't had any problems when using the system for about 2 years now. Use it only on a trip or two a year, and sits the rest of the time.

    Headlight adjustment on 2005 suburban

Put more weight in the rear:) Honestly, i have the same problem... Tried putting spacers in, but when not on high beams, my low beams always seem too low even with adjustment.

    Somewhat portable water filter

I made one out of a twenty inch harbor freight tool box(http://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage/tool-boxes/20-in-stainless-steel-toolbox-61572.html). Uses a regular cig lighter cord. Has a .5 micron filter, which I feel is more than enough for clean water sources, if ever in question I use...

Lets see some full size pictures...

Thanks!! I did (and my friend who taught me to weld) :) The bottom section is a 1/4 4x8 beam welded internally making it a ~7 gallon air tank. Dual swing out for the tire side, and the jerrycan/ winching box. Felt like too much time in, but was well worth it... If you want I can post some...

Advice on what truck to purchase? Crew cab vs suburban for family of 4+dog adventures

I think this hits on the points made quite well. What I get out of the discussion is on the camping/ overland side, they both have small pluses and minuses. The big difference is for those other days not in the forest- it's Hauling people? Suburban- Hauling stuff? Pickup. I must say though the...

    Toilet Paper transportation and dispensing

Dang, I was going through this thread thinking this is ridiculous, just use a damn plastic bag, but that bag looks pretty nifty. I really like the velcro. Is it waterproof? Sometiems keep the TP next to the toilet, and when it rains, the plastic bag, well, is waterproof

From the Mouths of Babes: "I Want to Camp"

Awesome, looks like some serious mud! These are the types of trips that are remembered and looks like you found a cool place because of it! Hopefully your granddaughter will say "let's camp again!" That's all the matters.

Suburban saying hi! Always been meaning to post in this thread. 2004 Suburban 1500, ~6 inch coilover lift and a bunch of over stuff we don't need. A lot of cool rigs here, have definitely stolen a few things here and there.
