Vehicle that comes with 285 75 16 tires?

mid 2000 Suburbans/ Tahoes, etc. came with 265/75/16, which is close. I have 285/75/16 and have had costco install them before. Maybe that's close enough?

Hey Vortec Guys! / Sierra pickup / Suburban / Yukon etc - Finally has Index!

Yep, they all do that. It's the charcoal canister or the solenoid. The solenoid is cheap (replace first). If that doesn't work, then try "blowing out" the charcoal canister with a compressor. If that does not work, it's a $120 replacement for the canister. There's ton's of videos on youtube...

Solar power: Wire gauge and length questions....

Not sure where the wires are on the trailer, but I do like the 12 gauge landscape wire on the exterior (roof etc.) Quality landscape wire is formulated with UV protection. Not sure under a truck/ trailer where it may contact salt, debris, rubbing, oil, grease, fuel, etc., but on a roof and in...

Convince me I need a fridge!

+1 The other thing about the fridge, is space. On long trips half the cooler volume was ice. With the fridge, much more of that space goes to actually carrying what you want, food/ drinks

WTB - Portable 12v Fridge Unit <$500 within 1-200 miles of PDX, Or

I bought my Whytner 62 qt dual zone from Home Depot with a 20% off coupon. Ended up being a little over $500. New. (The appliance 20% sales they have count these as "regular fridges" so wait for one of those if you can) I have been very happy with it for ~two years now. I remember the 40q...

My 03 Z71 Suburban and plans - Also my introduction lol

Sounds like a good time! (Love the chariot name haha) I would check your coolant, etc. I have never had my engine temp gauge budge on either of my trucks, even in 110+ slow moving off road/ LA traffic..... The cooling system I believe is the same for the 5.3's and 6.0's and so with the 5,3's...

My 03 Z71 Suburban and plans - Also my introduction lol

Welcome! There's a quite a few of us GMT800 owners on here, with different builds. Someone recently posted a link to all/most of them if you search around for "suburban". I have gleamed quite a few ideas from here and look forward to your build! I have atomic's coilover setup (with a 6 inch...

The front hub I think are sealed for good. Good timken replacements are around 90 bucks a corner on Rock Auto.... might be cheaper insurance. Wheel bearings over 150k miles in a position to cause faliure for wheel detachment gives me extra attention. I haven't had a ball joint fail but it...

Well I have 4wd again. Driveshaft is shortened and balanced and installed with all new u joints. No vibrations at highway speed and 4wd in gravel works. Just waiting on some CV spacers to put the tripod joint at the perfect length. I'll post details when they come and I can confirm the brand...

Going domestic, project vanilla aka the family tankster, 2004 Suburban 2500

Looks like a plan! For idler and pitman arms: IMO ONLY buy AC Delco originals, or go with something like the Kryptonite as a higher $ option. I did not like the Moog's HD line fitment (And I am a fan/ usually default to moog's Problem solver HD parts) However, I could not i get the arms to...

I think on a cranked setup, lowering the diff an inch would be awesome! Any better CV angles is worth it. It would be pretty easy I think too, on the passenger side mount would just maybe need some inch spacer (out of bar stock- heavy but effective) The other two mounts, you can easy make a drop...

Here are the pictures with the skid plate. Hope it will help someone in the future. Front view, looks exactly the same as pre 9.25 Side view: (You can also see my friend's suburban in the background with his new 14 bolt:) ) One of the new skid plate mounts

Rayra- Maybe this picture helps 1- is rear mount points for the skid plate on the rear lift kit cross member (same mount point as before the 9.25) Mounts to the back side of the cross member. 2- Is the modified/new L bracket mount point for the front of the diff (and skid plate) This uses...

Sorry, the last picture with the skid plate will make it more clear, I'll get that tonight (It was dark when I finished and I didn't get a picture) Maybe this will clear it up Stock height 8.25- self explanatory 6 inch lift with 8.25- Drops the diff 5.5 inches from stock (along with the front...

Well spent all day Saturday and some of Sunday (It was hot here and I was by myself so moved slowly with having to move the diff around...., with two hands probably would have only taken 2 hours to do the front mount welds.) It's all 100% done (except the cv spacer and drive shaft shortening...

    GMT800 Tahoe or Suburban?

I am in martnjmpr's boat. First point- If you tow 4k lb+ or are set on going to 37's or something, get the 2500 and don't look back. Now if you don't- My pro's for the 1500 start with the mpg. Fully loaded with crap on the roof, 33's and a 6 inch lift on 4.10 gears I get 14-15 mpg(usually...
