Hey Raya- didn't see the first part of you post.
My light bar is a cheap chinese 54inch ebay special. Been going strong now for almost 4 years....... I did open it up and re-silicone it when I bought it.
Buddy has a curved ebay 54 inch and he's been happy for the past 6 months as well.
Also...
I wouldn't touch a ford 6.0 with a twenty foot pole(unless you spend to 5-??k to "buletproof" it), my friends' experience with them towing our racecars really swayed my thoughts on any of their new engines. All of them either went to chevy or went back to the old 7.3. One is in a new ecoboost...
2500-
All years are great. 6.0 or 8.1. As some said, only real difference are the creature comforts through the years, the running gear is much the less the same. Only small stuff like materials on the gaskets of the front diff, etc. For 2500 GMT 800 the most important thing is the condition of...
*When winching up, really thought I had my wheels turned, guess not. lol, still worked.
Also, not aired down... This is only ~1 miles off the well worn gravel road, and didn't think we'd get in much trouble that day.
So some updates, been super busy with work and holidays.
Details on bumper. Not much you can't sen in the picture. Ground the end of the chassis extension flat and welded 1/2 plate to the end, as well as some down the length of the chassis. i left the stock weak extrusions as a "crash...
Hey Thanks!
Yep. I measured, 3d printed and tested and was going to have someone CNC'd some spacers..
Then found these

2 stacked on the driver side, 1 on the passenger side. I like easy off the shelf...
So, started by a purchase of 35's a few weeks ago and the insusing bumper trimming.... decided to just get on with it on the Friday off after Thanksgiving. With my carboloaded state, got this done!
I'll get more photos soon, but I am really happy. Definitely my best welding job so far. Also...
On a 2500 you should be good with the tire size, I believe, with minimal rubbing (Equivalent to 33x10?)
I have a 1500, but think the cross bars are the same as a 2500. I don't think the stock roof rack bars are strong enough-my stock ones were easily flexed by hand. I would say you would need...
I must say, you've exceed my expectations with your truck. Looks like you are getting out there and having fun.
The coilover idea though, IMO that's dangerous as ********. The entire weight of the truck (or corner of the truck) will be held on the spring. I do not see that clamp holding ~2000lb...
In addition to my old coleman's that have become"family heirlooms" a few years ago went to purchase something newer to stay in the truck full time.
I looked (and tried through friends) campchef, partner, etc.
Partner's are indeed nice, but i couldn't justify the cost and reduced capability...
Agreed, looking forward to it. The spot we were going to camp outside of the park looks like it was overrun by a fire a few months ago, ranger office closed today, going to call tomorrow.... Between the fires and beetle infestations, so many closures!
Trasharoo. We love it. After a few years of hard use one of the straps broke and they replaced the bag no questions asked. Love that. Only thing I would say is get another color other than black. Sitting in the sun all day it fades after a year or two...
Well, getting back in action after my knee recovery is done!
Had a rock jam my rear caliper on the last trip, and by the time I got home my pad and rotor were toast.
Pretty Groovy!
Bought some new Raybestos calipers(250k on the originals), pads, and parking brake kit.
I noticed the...
Thanks Max!
Broke my patella a month ago, so i've been out of the action for a bit and haven't driven the truck... A few of us here met up and had a 4 suburban trip back in June. I don't have any great pictures, but should be a good show of lift heights and stances. Maybe Jel or boss can post...
