Matt Scott's article "5 Things We'd Love To See In The Next Wrangler"

A few reasons off the top of my head Cheaper Simpler, therefore less to go wrong, and easier to fix yourself. Lighter. There is no reason to buy stuff in this world you have no use for (i.e. carpet or backseat if I'm literally throwing them in the trash on day 1) that's just a waste of...

Because everyone has different goals and needs. We're not for one second saying you should not be able to get your comfy model if that's what you want, we're just asking for a less comfy model for ourselves because that better suits our needs and goals. Us asking for something you have no use...

2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Uberlanding Build

Hey Matt, Nice Rubicon! I can't wait to see what you do with it and where you go! So close to Baja. Man, I could use some Baja right about now (everything's still frozen solid up here). I'm been wondering about mounting options for the MaxTrax, and I'm hoping you can get a shot for me. I've...

JKU Sleeping Platform with Gear Storage

Wow, that's awesome, nice work. I dream of something similar for the back of my future JKU. To get the 72 inches of length, is that with both seats all the way forward? I'd like to squeeze a little more than that (I'm 6 2), so I'm thinking of putting a fold n' tumble seat from a 2 door as the...

Help With a 2000 Cherokee 4.0: Horrible Mileage and Labored Starting...

Something else random to check is stuck calipers/drums causing excessive rolling resistance. I just read about it happening to someone on another forum and it was killing mileage. -Dan

1999 Jeep Wrangler 2.2L Kubota diesel swap

It's a pain the gauges are control with such a complicated setup. I'm going to have to cross this bridge when I jump into my planned JK swap, and I'm hoping to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible. -Dan

1999 Jeep Wrangler 2.2L Kubota diesel swap

Ahh, gotcha. The crank is actually needed and must be accurate, it's the cam that can be made up. Makes perfect sense. Nice work on making your swap even simpler and cheaper. -Dan

1999 Jeep Wrangler 2.2L Kubota diesel swap

What signal does the tach actually use? Is the cam sensor actually driving the tach, or is it just needed to fool the PCM and the tach gets it's signal from somewhere else? If it's just to fool the PCM, I've always wondered why people go the mechanical option (like JD) instead of just wiring in...

Main Line Overland JK Build Thread

Can you please elaborate on that please. I'm thinking of steel wheels too, and would like to hear what problems you've had. Thanks, -Dan

WH(WK) Expo to Iceland with family August 2013

That sounds like something is being manipulated. A 40 ft. container is only around 20% more than a 20 ft... and you can fit two vehicles in the 40ft, so typically when shipping, it's almost 1/2 price to put two in a 40. -Dan

WH(WK) Expo to Iceland with family August 2013

Wow. Is that one vehicle in a 20ft. container? I assume it's a lot cheaper for two in a 40 ft. ? Thanks, -Dan

    JK Cab Closeout Kit

Huh, thanks for the info. I read their forums daily, and I assumed they'd be receptive to such a one-off, just for the fun of it. I was wrong, bummer. -Dan

    JK Cab Closeout Kit

AEV are well known for their custom one-offs. Did you ask if they'll just do the frame extension and a few other bits and pieces and leave you to do your own flatbed? -Dan

1997 Wrangler Overland Build - Road to Anchorage

For got to mention too - make the drive up to Dawson City, then across the Top Of the World Highway. It spits you out in Tok Junction AK, and hardly adds any distance to your overall trip. It's extremely worthwhile, because the AK highway itself is basically a boring highway. Take the detours...

1997 Wrangler Overland Build - Road to Anchorage

That's exactly the route I took up and back when I started my Alaska->Argentina trip, and in essentially the same Wrangler (2000, 2.5ltr, soft top, bone stock). There will be hardly any RVs on the Stuart-Cassiar highway, tons on the AK highway proper. You'll have an amazing time! Hit me up...

Central & South America – OFF ROAD

Awesome vid. I'm interested in how you made the Parallax effect? Did you do that manually? With what software? Also, how do you get permission to use someone's music like that? Thanks, -Dan

Matt Scott's article "5 Things We'd Love To See In The Next Wrangler"

That's certainly an option. The downsides are: * No warranty on all those mods. * No D44 in the front (which is a HUGE must for me) * No extra low gearing in the transfer case * No e-disconnect for the sway bar * No 4:10 ratio in the diffs. Certainly you could make all those changes to a...
