Much of the box is aluminum so I wouldn't go over scrap value on it. Having had a M1010 and trying to camp in it at military vehicle shows I can assure you they are not comfortable as-is. If you're going to strip it and start from a blank canvas then they're not worth any more than something...
Whatever vehicle you decide to get take the time to learn the basics of how to change things that are likely to break even on an easy trail - tires (obviously) I'll assume you know how to change one but do you know how to fix a puncture in the event you need more than one spare? Lots of good...
Just ordered a copy. I do some light woodworking but haven't tackled anything larger than a night stand (although it is a Craftsman style and only took me about 6 months :) ), but I have to support my Idaho brethren. I've been thinking about a teardrop so maybe this will push me more in that...
Here's one for a M100 which I believe is the same tub. Kind of pricey but you might be able to find someone else making reproductions for less. Or you might find just a replacement rear panel and have it welded in.

Tailgate/hatch issue can be taken care of with a swingaway but you're just adding more and more costs to it. $1200 for the platform, $1500-$4000 for the tent (depending on your pick), $800+ for the swingaway. Starts getting pricey quick.
Wonder if it'd work with a hard-shell tent.
While the owner can call it anything he likes, technically that's a Class C motorhome.
For example a Class B would simply be a van that had amenities like a sink and fridge installed in it or maybe a pop-up top. Once the actual van body has been replaced it is considered a Class C.
Just change the bulbs. Wiring is all the same, I.e. no 24v wire. Putting 12v bulbs in the holder will produce the correct light as long as it’s hooked to a 12v power supply. Patch any part of the harness that’s bad.
Is your address on the insurance card or registration? If it was broken into at your house not a big deal but away from there then it gives them a place to go if they want to mess with you further. I get ALL of my mail sent to a P.O. Box and have done so for 17 years. It costs me a little...
I picked up a 1951 M100 1/4 ton jeep trailer the other day. I bought it sight unseen as it belonged to a friend and he needed some cash due to the whole Covid lockdown. He dropped it off Thursday and while it wasn't as good as I had hoped it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared. He had said there...
I'd definitely go with the .357 or .44mag just because I like the idea of single ammo type when out in the woods carrying a pistol and rifle. I miss the Marlin lever action in .44 I had as a kid and would like to get another in either the same caliber or .357
The only lever action I have is a...
I did something similar when I ran the IDBDR. I have an ARB fridge that I ran off the AUX A/C plug in the back seat of my Titan. This was fine when the truck was running but overnight I switched it to my AUX battery in the bed of the truck. Every couple of days I'd hook my NOCO charger up to...
For me the military vehicles are just toys. I don't take them far enough away from home to worry about 45-55mph speed restrictions. That was one of the reasons I was looking at the NATO G-Wagens as a good compromise in that If I kept the military paint scheme but registered it as a normal...
I listed a few of the prices (I emailed them to see what they had).
In a unique FMV, any where you go is a parade with everyone wanting to know about it. If I just want to take one for a drive I have the excuse of "working on it." All the mechanical parts need tested on a regular basis so it...
Here's a place to start. Since they're basically commercial vehicles parts shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately one of the big costs will be getting it over here. If you're still in TX you can register it as a Former Military Vehicle and save on registration and no inspection required but...
