As a solar and storage industry professional, I absolutely hate the term solar generator.
A battery is not a generator - pure and simple. It is a storage device.
A solar generator is no more a generator than an inverter + battery is an AC generator.
A generator generates something (like...
300Ah of Lithium is quite a bit! In fact, it might too much, the perfect amount or too little.
Your posts are a little hard to track - best to write it up and post and attachment with a schematic if you want high quality feedback.
Letting a Li battery bank get cold is no big deal - just don't...
Awesome! Renogy has sold (brand labeled) their mid grade solar panels the longest....and has recently started rebranding everything else....and it shows. Their electronics aren't great...in time, maybe, but for now, they are still in the teething stage.
Victrons are fun and proven...they have a...
Hate to say it, but the 3.8 will struggle regardless of what you do...mtns or otherwise.
The JK is a heavy platform and modern engines systems have changed our perception of acceptable/need. The JK platform started it's life as an under powered platform (as compared to other similar sized...
Ah...ok...sorry... solar controllers come in two forms - MPPT and non-mppt.
MPPT controllers (just Google the term) generate the most energy from the array by always operating at the max power point of the array (provided the load can accept it).
Non-mppt controllers are not worth the time...
Never parallel connect multiple MPPT solar controllers to the same solar array unless they are designed for it. In the case of Victron or Kisae, don't connect multiple controllers to same array. Multiple controllers can be connected to the same batteries, just not the same set of solar...
What vehicle do you have that has such a small alternator? 25A is basically a 1-2 halogen spotties that we all used though the mid/late 90s...
My 07 Jeep has 180A from the factory...my sprinter is a 250A...my 86 'Burb had a 130A unit...the 96 check p/u was 150A or so...
OP - full time AGM in...
50A draw on an alternator kill the life??? Hmmm - guess it depends on how anemic your alternator is and how the loads are managed. Idle the motor and run every accessory AND expect a big DCDC to run - sure it run the alternator too hard. At highway RPMS, one can expect 30-50% more power than at...
I run a Kisae 1230 DCDC and the Victron 30A Orion DCDC in parallel to the same bank. This will provide up to 60A of current to the bank in the Van. (The Kisae 1250 wasn't available). The Kisae is a fantastic value offering both solar MPPT and alternator charging in the same unit (although not at...
I can't speak to who/under what context you're referring to...
However, solar has its place...as does the size of the system. I've used solar in my rigs for years - it is all about the type of camping/travel and loads being supplied.
It really sort of curios - folks often brag about how...
Other great DCDC products are Kisae 1230 or 1250 and the Victron Orion isolated DCDC. (I have both of these running). The Sterling unit's interface is archaic and frankly unnecessary these days. The
Yes, you need a DCDC - it will charge the batteries faster and keep your batteries happier...
Consumer BT is incredibly finicky and often unstable. I had a conversation with the Victron CEO some years ago - he said they had lots of Bluetooth stability problems related to Android BT stability. He also said the Apple universe was a pain in the butt. I do know the number of simultaneous BT...
A bit of an overstatement and over generalization.
It all depends upon how the banks are deployed.
All types of systems, including UPS, off-grid solar, large DC systems use multiple Banks of batteries and parallel of all types and sizes. Inbalance develops if the batteries are (1) of...
Minimize your HF (hassle factor). If it sucks or is annoying, the novelty/joy will wear off in a hurry. Setup/pack up time and HF must be minimized...it will fall on you to make this an easy, fun process until folks have learned their roll/how to help.
It really all depends on you/your family's...
****** happened to this forum? When did it get so filled with virtue signaling self-righteous Bungholes? Sheesh. Not every thread needs to harp on Leave No Trace principles. @Moderators - pls start deleting posts and warn folks that are making this forum a crappy place to visit.
Sent from my Pixel...
Lots of realistic responses in this thread (some more so than others) - the JKU/Jeep is not a great tow vehicle when compared to just about anything else on the road. It will never tow as well as a 1/2-ton pickup a Tacoma, a Grand Cherokee, a Tahoe, a Ranger/Colorado or even some/most CUVs...
Get ready to be disappointed...weboost/cell booster devices are pretty unrealiable. The FCC neutered the effectivity of said devices several years ago.
It's pretty random when they work...I've been all over the west working to know/have learned this lesson (several years in advance of...
Clean the metal - the flakey stuff. Works best of applied over a light layer of rust. It is called Pour Over Rust /Paint Over Rust...it is really nice stuff.
The fumes are very very toxic - read the MSDS - it is loaded with isocyanates...
