AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

I think this was the swap they did of the engine from the Diesel Liberty. Over on the AEV forums Dave has talked at length about it - basically it was a pain in the *** of a swap, and way, way to complex with tons of custom parts and computer trickery. As he said, you want a reliable...

    Timetable for new Jeep models

A potential diesel in the liberty is interesting, as I doubt they'll use the 3.0 (too big, more torque than needed). They would have to certify one of the smaller VMs, like the 2.2 How does that make any sense when the 3.0 is already certified for the GC? Surely they just have to drop the same...

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

The CRD GC and Libery from a few years back are around. We don't currently have a CRD option (other than the new GC coming in 2013) Of course, it was -31F here today, and sunrise was 10am, sunset 4pm. Well past -40F with the windchill. It made snowboarding tricky today. -Dan

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

I live in the Yukon in Canada, where it makes no different what engine I put in my vehicle. There is no emissions testing. Ever. -Dan

AEV/Burnsville 3.0L Diesel JK Conversion Kit

To bump this back to the top - we didn't hear anything about 3.0 conversion kits at SEMA. Damn. This post from burnsville says they did a 3.0 swap into a JK for Crysler, but the engine is too big and complex for it to work well. They think the 2.8 is much better. That was in 2007 though, so I...

Wrangler Tire Size - Overland, Trail, and Other

I drove from Alaska to Argentina with 31x10.5 r15 on my stock TJ, and I never once wished I had bigger tires. If you plan on long overland journeys, I'd stay away from bigger tires, as they are harder to come by, more expensive (a buddy is looking at paying $375 per tire for 31s in Peru) and...

    New jeep engine questions

Jeep CEO Mike Manley has confirmed it for 100% fact. The Grand Cherokee will have the 3.0 Diesel in early 2013 http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/05/jeep-grand-cherokee-headed-for-detroit-reveal-on-diesel-power/ -Dan

Jeep diesel discussion and the future.

We know the engine passes all the emissions tests, and we know it mates to the 5-speed auto currently in the Wrangler. Even if Jeep don't offer it from the factory in the Wrangler (which I hope like hell they do) we can all-but-gurantee shops will offer the conversion. Recent quotes say Jeep...

    Jeep Wrangler Habitat Official Release

Good point. I wonder if it would be possible to have the fly "stand-off" the tent so even if the fly is soaked, it doesn't touch the tent. It would probably also be worth putting breathing holes in the fly to try and minimize condensation, like this...

JK front bucket seat in the rear

Thanks. I was thinking about some kind of extension too. Like a board that flips up for resting feet on. I have not done the measurements, but I always figured it would be handy if it was the same height at the center console for added width. I'm thinking about how my fold-n-tumble worked in...
