Personally, I'd add the fridge before the tent. I've used my little Waeco 25L fridge for 6 years and it's been one of the best investments I've made. It died here the other day (was quickly fixed) and I had to camp with a cooler again for a long weekend. Forgot how much that sucked. I've been...
All depends on where you plan on going. If you think you won't get stuck, then have at it! 95% of us on this site (myself included) have spent a lot more time and money on modifications then what is really needed.
I spent a week camping like that in Alaska while waiting for my trailer to be ready. Is a little tight but I was quite comfy overall. One suggestion... make (or buy) a couple of mesh nets to cover the windows so you can sleep with the windows open without having to deal with bugs. Having slept...
Flat bedding it would leave you with a damn short flat bed. However a pop top would be awesome if there was a way to make it work while still keeping it a "jeep" or at least jeep ish.
I have this as well. And when I first bought the trailer with the lid already in place, I'd planned on changing it to a p.side hinge setup... now 3 years later... I'm liking it there. Allows me to have my counter top setup on the drivers side while still allowing full access to the contents of...
I've owned two trailers - a m101 off road rig with a pintle and a Little Guy Rough Rider with the option for either a ball or a lock-n-load hitch. I used the lock-n-load hitch 100% of the time, and would put that on any trailer of mine that was going to see more than a paved highway. Is it...
I ended up selling mine after 2 years... however that was more due to limitations on where I'd actually take it and the fact I had an off road trailer already. But I never had any issues with changing or being frustrated that I couldn't stand up in it. Long term my plan was to put a roof rack on...
Hmm, I see all my pictures disappeared. Anyway, haven't done much with the trailer other than use it. But seeing how my pull out kitchen is at least a year away, I decided to make a counter top for my stove and food prep. Most of my camping is done in campgrounds where this isn't needed, but...
This is one statement I disagree with. While it's usually true, it doesn't apply 100% of the time. I've squeezed my jeep through some really tight places, where on the return trip (same trail), I couldn't get the angle right as much as I tried to get back between those same tree's. On the way in...
Depends on the trailer. My m101 that weighs around 1300 lbs loaded can easily be turned around and moved out of the way to do what you described. But then it's superbly balanced.
This concern is one of the main reasons I ended up selling my Little Guy Rough Rider and sticking with my m101 and...
Guess I'm in the minority? I like the auto and how the manual mode works. It doesn't bother me that it stays upright in one spot after shifting gears. I can almost always tell (95%+) what gear I'm in just from what the jeep is doing (RPM/engine noise, speed, etc).
There's lots of times I miss...
If you're keeping the stock fenders, go full width. If you're changing those, then a stubby might be okay. Not really a fan of them personally - they seem to be a hate it or love it type of bumper - but am really not a fan of how they look with the stock fenders.
Add in the fact that there's no additional functionality to it (other than some mostly useless windows and an extra couple of inches of head space) and you'll pay a premium for it, while limiting your options for a roof rack (should you ever go there).
Personally, I think they look neat... but...
Looks good.
On the headlights... after having tried at least half a dozen different setups (from cheap to expensive), I'd look at 2 options. Either a set of Trucklites (I think you get better value out of those over JWspeakers EVO2) or Hella's (halogens) with a harness. Just keep in mind that...
I knew overnight was never an issue. But if it was really hot out, would usually hit the cmd start after 24 hours or so "just in case". And I don't think I'd ever gone more than 36 hours without starting it if the fridge was on. Not that it was ever really needed... I mean I have the low voltage...
