Finally got a chance to test fit the brackets. I ordered some neoprene gasket material and some stainless hardware. Need to get a powder coat quote soon.
Well after 7 weeks the laser shop finally delivered. Not sure what the problem was but they graciously hand delivered them to my door. Hopefully going to get a test fit in this week. I ordered all my hardware so it should be here in a couple days. They weigh 13.6lbs as they sit so add a bit for...
Thanks (y) I actually bought the Neiko rivet gun first but realized it wouldn't fit in tight spots so I got the HF too. The HF is just a bad design but it will work now that I have an idea of why it jams up. Floor has a tiny bit of flex but I'm also putting a 3/8 rubber mat down for flooring...
Yep I'm still here. Right in the middle of town north ish of central main st. I have ordered a full set of brackets with rails so as soon as they are done I'll post up here with pics. Swing by any time. PM me for an address (y)
Correct I am using the factory holes. The top rails can be mounted leg out or in and inboard or outboard of the feet so you have a bit of wiggle room for rack width depending on what you have.
No updates really. Been super busy with work but I am going to get some drawings finished and sent...
Correct. The chassis makes up about 50% of the total dry weight so I made an educated guess at the shackle angle. If it's way off when it's all said and done they'll get chopped and repositioned.
New video up. This was actually last November. I took the winter off. Epoxy doesn't like cold temps and it was too much of a hassle and cost to heat the shop up to 80* in the middle of winter. This is essentially where I am now. Work will start back up soon so the vids will be more real time...
Thanks (y) I'm trying to make the rails that go with the mounts as universal as possible. The rails will have a lot of mounting holes for either u bolt clamps or other means of fastening mainstream racks. But yes the main goal is to fit the rack I am designing.
Burns a bit hotter with CO2 but you get more spatter. Sort of a trade off but CO2 is dirt cheap compared to mix. About $20 to refill in my area.
Good luck. Hopefully you can get the bigger machine. I'll end up getting one as soon as the budget allows. You just need an adapter fitting to hook a...
Did a test fit this past weekend fellas. Needed a bit of tweaking so I 3d printed v2 to save some money :) Hoping for another test fit this coming weekend if the rain stays away:
I am using a Hobart Handler 190 for all this. It's a great welder but I wish I could have afforded a Hobart 210. The 190 is a fine welder and will do up to 1/4" just fine. I use straight CO2. Mix gas is for rich people :) It's about $820 on Amazon and comes with a spool gun for aluminum. Just...
