I've got the set I had made last fall sitting in the shop. Work consumed my fall and my winter so far. That project will be back on the front burner this spring. I'd like to refine them just a bit more and then depending on who's interested I'd like to do a run of them.
Finally got some time to cut the wall panel out. I left the door area in so I don't break the panel before its glued on. Second image is reversed so I can see it on the correct side :)

You can buy a lot of steel for $800. FOr an extra couple hundred you could have a custom frame built I would bet. Or find a buddy with a welder and bring your steel and a 12 pack.
Been pretty busy with work the last few weeks and have been working on the trailer in my spare time lately. I'll be back on the rack project soon though.
A bit more progress. Got the small panel in front of the road side fender well done and installed. Made a proof of concept of the roof hinge I designed. Seems to work pretty good. Got some lights ordered. Most of them have shown up. Started laying out the curb side wall for lamination. The grey...

Thanks @Mericas_Meuth As soon as I can get these mounted permanently and get a rack on them and do a bit of testing I'll be either releasing CAD data or kits for sale depending on the demand for each.
It's hard to read tone via text. I'm not disagreeing with you about the roof crown front to back or side to side. I'm not saying the whole suburban roof is dead flat. My neighbor has two suburbans and I've looked at both roofs a lot during this design process. All I am saying is the roof is...
See below the Tahoe roof how it changes elevation between the rivnuts vs the Suburban which is relatively flat (longitudinally) in the same area. This is why my brackets are shaped they way they are with separate feet.
Tahoe:
Suburban:
I tried that on a previous prototype set and it doesn't work due to the shape of the roof. The roof isn't flat between the rivnuts. The forward bracket feet are not on the same plane. I'm not worried about the load capacity. 26+ sq inches of metal touching the roof so if I put 300lbs up there...
