This skin is Vetroresina out of South Carolina. The only problem with ordering from them is you have to order a full 200ft roll unless you are within driving distance of them. Yes I am using 18ga formed angles and 3/16 aluminum rivets to attach everything.
Thanks!! (y)
Road side wall is attached! Only took 80 rivets (y) Got the holes drilled for wiring on the back panel and the rear shelf bottom. Mocked up the tail lights too. New vid at the bottom.
Front bulkhead is done. The pic doesn't show the shelf but the video does. Hopefully get the road side wall up next weekend. I ran out of rivets. I've used 700 so far :D
Small update. Got the counter/front shelf glued and riveted. I mention in the video that the HF gun got fixed but it ended up jamming again. More adjustment needed I think. Left wall is only mocked up in this pic-
Well sometimes my stupidity knows no bounds. I got my new rivet gun in today. Tested it out and it works flawlessly. Decided to compare the guts with the Harbor Freight unit. Very similar functionality and parts count. Thought that maybe the jaws in the HF were the wrong ones and maybe I had...
Thanks (y)
Yes Styro relies solely on the Teroson for panel joins. I am paranoid so you can see I am using 18ga steel and pop rivets everywhere. I haven't done a test panel with the Teroson. It is pretty thick so spreading it out would be a chore I think. Not sure how it would work but maybe...
Thanks (y)
I've had this one for awhile. Works great for the price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002GQ51Y6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have a new one that will be here tomorrow that has a low profile head. I have a few tight spots I need to get into...
Got some work done this past weekend. I got a wall installed! :) (y) (y)
Used tape for clean adhesive lines on visible corners. I was sloppy on non-visible corners and under the angle supports. Hopefully more panels glued on next weekend. Video link at the bottom
I still got a bit of warping on a couple panels even with the vac table. Adding weight would not be a bad idea at all.
Again thanks for the inspiration Terra. Your thread was a huge help (y)
Thanks Terra - Yes I had an entire roll of FRP shipped to me. The would only ship if I bought a 200ft roll of it. That was a bit of a fiasco in itself. The roll got damaged in transit and they shipped me the wrong product on top of that. They sent meG300 instead of G400. I ended up getting a...
Thanks Jonny for the nice comments. This chassis is incredibly stiff compared to a pickup chassis. The other factor is that pickups twist due to having 4 contact points with the ground. Trailers only have 2 points of contact and pivot around the tow ball so even a lighter chassis would not flex...
Thanks man. Took a bit longer break than intended but I'm back after it now. I just subbed to your thread. Looks like a great build so far. Your scale model was awesome :) Hope your leg is healing up ok. Holy ******** that was a bad one...
Second wall is done, front and back panels are laminated. I switched from the ******* PVC conduit I used in the first wall to aluminum. works much better. Did a mock up with both walls. It's starting to look like something :) I'm going to start gluing panels to the trailer soon.
New video link...
Thank you (y)
Well guys after a 6 month break I'm back after it. Got the road side wall laminated this past weekend. One more flat panel to go and then I have to make a curved form for the roof panel.
Similar here in summer. In July and August its 90-100 a lot of the time. This epoxy has a 45 minute pot life at 80* and it takes 3 of us about 45 minutes to laminate one full panel.
Soon fellas. As soon as the weather breaks I'll be back to laminating panels. Takes too much electricity to heat the shop up to 80* for the epoxy to cure in the winter.
