    Single-zone vs. Dual-zone

While technically correct, 10.7 will damage your battery there are other things to consider - false trips. I run a Blue Sea BMV 712 - and like ALL coloumb counter gauges it has its shortcomings...but I still like the ability to remotely monitor and it is good enough...that being said, I the...

Opinions on vehicle / sleeping arrangements for small family

I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been bombarded with people posting about how you don't need anything or how they went camping with 4 adults, 2 kids and 4 GSDs in a 2 dr Jeep in 19XX...what many don't realize is just how big car seats have gotten and/or are getting. Anyhow... Buddy heater...

Opinions on vehicle / sleeping arrangements for small family

Best advice any one gave me : just go on your first trip ...but plan ahead and minimize your Hassle Factor (HF). Remember this term - Hassle Factor and let this be a primary decision factor moving forward. As a new family, you have plenty to worry about - so make things easy and simple...and...

    CTEK 250S Poor solar performance

Victron doesn't have a B2DC charger. All of the Sterling units, from what I can tell, are programmed via an archaic interface and you must follow their canned schemes.

    CTEK 250S Poor solar performance

I did speak to them about their solar performance...and each time got no where. Farthest I could get was the tech support person telling me to unplug the unit...and if the solar comes on right away, the unit is doing what it is supposed to do. Given that both of CTEK 250s units are doing this...

    CTEK 250S Poor solar performance

MPPT is always much more effective, regardless of the Voc - a competent charge controller only needs about 2V to maintain proper regualtion and control bandwidth at these power and voltage levels. For startup, a competent controller will need ~4V between solar and battery voltage. The issue is...

    CTEK 250S Poor solar performance

You're barely touching that battery...12.7V after an evening of usage suggests that it won't take long to recharge your batt. However, all agms are not the same - so hard to say without looking at the actual curve. My guess is your pulling maybe 20aH-30aH out at most and are running 2x the...

    CTEK 250S Poor solar performance

After spending 8 days on a remote mountain top relying on the CTEK 250s to charge batteries from solar, I can wholeheartedly say DO NOT buy their 250S product if you need decent solar performance. Charging from the alternator, it does fine/as expected. The charge times are insanely long as it...

Ok folks Kodiak or Springbar ?

The Kodiak website is usually the most expensive...you can find it from others cheaper. Occasionally Cabela's and Sportsmanwarwhouse has good prices...

    Alu box dust

Vibration /movement on surface of aluminum...just about anything will polish or sand the surface. Paint / clear coat then cover with material of choice. Less prone to etching and staining...and no corrosion. Bare aluminum is great if it is never touched.

Is the Blue Sea 7605 battery charger/isolator a good base for a simple dual battery system?

Good thinking on using the lithium pack to get things going... I'm going to go against the grain here a bit from the above posts. This thing looks like a great deal/idea - however, i believe blue sea does not design/mfr their own power elecronics. This is not necessarily a bad thing if they...

Ok folks Kodiak or Springbar ?

I have the 10x14 Kodiak. Love it. Best tent I have ever had...incl several from REI. I can set it up myself in less time than my large REI Kingdom tent. Setup (once located and I'm focused is under 7min). I use a cordless impact and long lag screws and the tarp to protect the floor (not...

    inexpensive 12v tire inflator

A 400c has about double the CFM of the 88p and nearly 3x the price. It is a solid choice, but a pair of 88p gives me approx the same CFM, is less expensive and gives some level of redundancy. The same argument goes for the any of the other cheapies... Been running a pair of 88p on my Jeep for...

JKU suspension upgrade needed - Opinions Welcome

I had airbags for quite a while and found them to pogo too much. Granted this was with worn out stock shocks and then with Rancho RS9000 gimmicks... My preference this go around is to run with the proper spring setup since this rig will continue to run heavy and haul lots for quite a...

JKU suspension upgrade needed - Opinions Welcome

Thx for the feedback on their coils... I may try AEV or OME next. Ive been kick around the idea of running 37s, but the next set of tires I buy will be for the van. My sprinter has 35" Duratracs and these are not a good match for the van (need heavier duty/stiffier tire) - so I will be moving...

    inexpensive 12v tire inflator

75psi is not easy for small compressors - hat to say it, but that is totally unrealistic for most alligator clip style (20ish amps) compressors. I've been using an 88p for years (got a great deal -; something like 4 for $50) ... I use two in the jeep to air up from 10-35 psi or so. Works great...

JKU suspension upgrade needed - Opinions Welcome

I just installed 1" spacer in the front and 3/4" on the rear...still doesn't look like it did when it was freshly lifted, but the ride is significantly better (since it is out of the bumptops a little more). I should have installed 1.5" front and 1" rear, but I had 3/4" rears laying around and...

JKU suspension upgrade needed - Opinions Welcome

Anyone know people running Rockkrawler Springs on a heavy JKU? People really seem to love the ride on these springs - -but I don't know how they handle the weight... As a side note, I replaced all my factory arms with new factory takes off...it was unreal the improvement in the ride. I don't...
