JK dual swing out rear bumper options?

That is a smoking deal...wish I saw that. Love that bumper. I dropped them a line the other day...nothing left for jeeps....couldn't find anything on Prescott CL either.

    Backend Bottoms out easily...

So my source for Metalcloak springs turned out to be a no-go. Anyone running RockKrawler Springs on their heavier expo'd jeeps? What do you think of them?

    Backend Bottoms out easily...

HI Folks - Thought I would update this thread. Well, we went a bit of a different direction since I posted this thread. We bought a 4x Sprinter Low Roof 144 and put on a 2" lift with 35s, a poptop, and some other goodies...and this has been our primary overlanding vehicle. The Jeep will be...

Trying to decide between SoCal teardrop and overland Explorer TDK!! Please help

Go with the local supplier when buying new custom/low volume. I've done this path a few times with custom products...there is NOTHING more irritating than buying a brand new high dollar custom product only to have to spend your time/money addressing the inevitable issues that arise. (I am...

    Trailer suspension options?

Call the mfr...etrailer, while good at some things, get a lot wrong. I wouldn't take their word for it.

trying to understand battery capacity terminology

One other omment regarding letting batterirs sit on float: A battery left only to float will eventually begin to 'sulfate' and capacity will drop with time. Batteries have two different types of Life ratings... calendar life and cycle life. Cycle life depends upon depth discharge and rate...

trying to understand battery capacity terminology

Charging rates for batteries are based on chemistry and construction - and are a factor of 'C' C - or columb rate. Most folks thinks it stands for Capacity...and that's a reasonable substitution as the concept is the same. Basically it means how many amps can I cram into the battery - the...

    Analysis Paralysis

I have the Mopar lift...and with an empty (stock bumpers, no rails etc) jeep it rides great. The primary benefit for the Mopar lift is that it maintains the factory warranty or maxcare service contract without question... I run the Rancho Geo correction brackets and an adjustable front/rear...

    Timbren front bump stops

I use Sumosprings on my Jeep and suburban as a poormans "speed bump" ... much softer landing in place of the factory bumps stops. I had timbrens on the suburban (rear) for a while, but didn't like how harsh the ride was when load...so I went with better springs and some 'short' Sumo progrssive...

12v rooftop air conditioner for tacoma camper shell.

DC Aircon? Sure...from a company called Kalori - they have 12V 8-16BTU box. It is about 55#. The medium setting pulls ~80A. http://kalori.com/us/products/air-conditioning-us/roof-electrical-ac-unit-us/electrik-us/ ....sourced from...

Finally a real 12v air conditioner? - Indel Sleeping Well Cube

Can you take some photos of your install? I am looking for a solution as well...and this looks like it may work well. Can the unit be set to run on the high setting? Is there a remote available (I'd need to be able to control it while driving since it will be used as the rear a/c as well as...

Help with panel testing (Update with results)

Sorry if I over-explained....also I think we may have cross posted. I do this stuff for a living and and like you, am naturally curious. I think it's awesome experimenting with your gear like this. With respect to panel placement just point towards the South at about 30 degrees and that'll be...

Help with panel testing (Update with results)

Sorry I got interrupted and accidentally posted this before I was finished with it. If your 100 and 135 watt module are the same voltages, their current ratings will be different. Parallel operation should be better. In a series circuit, all series elements must have the same current but may...

Help with panel testing (Update with results)

A MPP is the maximum power point of a solar module. With just a little bit of sunlight, a module can produce its OCV or open circuit voltage. The more sunlight the higher the current. However just because the module was producing the highest voltage in no way means it's producing the highest...

Help with panel testing (Update with results)

Sounds like part of your test is to evaluate the MPPT ability /max power under various conditions. You'll need a load that will follow the source and allow the MPPT to function properly. A resistive bank like lightbulbs or toaster/space heater will not yeild the results...but your solar...

Found very heavy duty tent stakes at Home Depot

I use lag bolts and 2" fender washers...and my makita cordless impact. Much faster install .... But much faster removal. Length and size...depends on what I am using the stakes for...with a bad back and kids, I look for anything saves effort and time. sent via the cone of silence

ReCharging a 12 volt Deep Cycle AGM U1 Battery from Vehicle?

I have an 07 JKU. Does a fantastic job of keeping my underhood AGM at top spec. Got over 7 yrs from my last AGM...could get more if I left it and didn't drop it below 12 on about a dozen occasions....but when I pulled it and had it tested, I still have 60% or so capacity and the Jeep still...

    Backend Bottoms out easily...

Just finished doing some quick experiments with adding weight to the back (measuring deflection) on my Jeep and neighbor's stocker, ... suggests the spring rate is identical to stock or slightly softer on the Mopar 2" lift spring. Mine dropped ~3/8" more than her JKU Sahara at the perches...

I think I am doing this wrong

We did 7wks and 11k miles with a 2mo and a 90# St Bernard mix in a Jeep JKU (4door)...in the middle of winter... from CA to ME and back. Northern route outbound. No interstates. It was tight and would have been far more comfortable in a bigger vehicle. He's (our son) been camping with us...

    Need Some Quick Input

D44 rear was an option in 07, but was matched with a tow package. Can't say for sure if it also reqd the 3.73s. easy to do the math. 07 had some weird stuff and combinations. Get a FCA build sheet. Tires were an option from the factory...but were all seasons. Sounds like someone might be...
