This one caught my eye, the disaster relief interior of the box would be a much better starting point than a traditional ambulance interior.
I'm looking around for a wheelchair lift equipped diesel 4x4 E-350 that I can use to take my Dad to medical appointments, etc. but also pull a trailer and eventually upfit with camper systems. So looking for an older truck with good bones but don't necessarily care that much about appearances...
I've been watching van prices because I am considering getting a van with a handicap lift (or adding one) so that I can take my Dad some places (he is in a wheelchair now).
Anyways, I noticed this van pop on craigslist for $16k and then a few days later on ebay for $26k.
Would have been a deal...
I have a fairly substantial house battery system, a major component of which is my Xantrex RS3000 pure sine wave inverter charger. When I'm in "storage mode" (i.e. parked at my house) I keep shore power connected to keep the batteries topped off and keep the interior temperature above freezing...
I keep my water heater turned on (electric side not gas), pour a little RV antifreeze in the traps, and throw one of these rubber warming mats on the floor. The trap under the sink froze on me last year (was not using the warming mat), so trying to pay a bit better attention to the traps this...
Can anyone confirm for me that the FG140 Vehicle Speed Sensor generates 25 pulses per output shaft revolution? I think that's what I'm reading in the specs, but it doesn't seem to call it out with any clarity.
My M608Z tires are 586 rpm
final drive ratio is 4.875
VSS pulse rate is 25 ppr
VSS...
I've decided to get serious about doing a better cruise control for my FG. The reality is that there are often significant highway miles between where I am and where I want to be, and this will make them easier.
I want something that will maintain RPMs, not speed. Since I have a manual...
Anyone had this issue?
I hadn't moved the truck in a while (started it but didn't roll it down the road because I had a lot of things loose in the camper).
Went to move it today, and couldn't get the clutch to work. Figured it might need bleeding since it hadn't been used - bled it just fine...
East Coast (Mass.) plow truck - looks used but not abused. Some rust that will need to be worked on but nothing too offensive given the source.

We spent the night at Cathedral Point UT, overlooking Canyonlands. Did okay on the way in (there are a bunch of rock ledges to negotiate) but on the way out misjudged the way the body was going to shift and ended up busting out a window on the camper...
Other than this operator-induced...
It's been a while since I posted anything, but now that the weather has turned I'm back working on truck projects. A lot of mundane things like -
- finally mounted / balanced my spare on the new rim that I got at Expo West last year
- installed a new stereo in the Bigfoot (wanted a new head...
Just so we can coordinate, figure out how much camping space to stake out, etc. Reply with your info in this thread (or PM me) and I'll update this post with the info.
FYI, We will be staying at the KOA Campground in Flagstaff on Tuesday and Wednesday nights before expo. We stayed there last...
I'd appreciate any recommendations with respect to the various dedicated Wilderness EMT programs as offered by the likes of
SOLO Wilderness Medicine Institute (National Outdoor Leadership School) Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) Aerie Backcountry Medicine Center for Wilderness Safety Remote...
I use a Garmin dezl 7" GPS (760LMT) for primary navigation (I like a dedicated device for this) and have been getting much more familiar with Basecamp and other apps for managing multiple mapsets.
For me, the most useful websites have been gpsfiledepot.com for map sets, poi-factory.com for poi...
This would be a fun project for someone... there's a lot of work required but you can see the potential.

I admit that this is not something I've looked at - but talking with the NPS folks earlier this year about how they pretty much have AEDs everywhere has got me thinking -
Anyone carry an AED with them (solo or club)?
If so, what brand/model?
