Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

I understand what he's saying. That's why i used the extreme example. It ignores the additional axle/load carrying components of the trailer as well as the dynamics of the load itself.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

That's like saying that the those same components, if the truck is rated to tow 10,000# (w/ a WD hitch) can carry 10,000#. I don't agree with that at all.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

hauling 2000# and towing 2000# are not the same thing.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

No... that's not what AWD means. GM and others offer 2hi,4hi, AWD, 4lo from the factory. Just like Toyota did in some 3rd gen 4runners and some 1st gen Sequoias. They also offered AWD, 4HI, 4LO in v8-equip'd 4th gen 4runners.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

Disagree with this statement. The Tundra (all trucks, for that matter) are only rated to tow that amount WITH a weight distributing hitch. So it's not actually putting 20% on the tongue, and subsequently the rear axle. Semantics? Possibly.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

It's analogy only, but... i've towed many thousands of miles pulling my xtracab, 4runners, etc. I've pulled with a 5.9 cummins, 04 Tundra Doublecab, 11 Crewmax, 06 Tundra Doublecab, 07 Sequoia, 15 Crewmax, 16 F350 Powerstroke. While i was technically within the tow ratings of all of the...

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

I'll argue this... it's almost always harder to make something you have into something you really need.

I can tell you for a fact that the F350 tremor doesn't have AWD But unlike my 04 Tacoma's... the rear locker works from the factory in 2wd.:D :D :D

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

specific to your insurance company or are they referring to an industry standard? I'd be wary of assuming all companies are 100% the same... mostly out of paranoia

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

proving a negative is always difficult. But from what little research i've done, the front suspension can be swapped from Sequoia to LC for "more travel." The steering/front diff/etc... largely the same. Basically, I'd argue "same platform" from the A-pillar forward. Plus, the LC has a smaller...

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Ironically, I disliked that comment, to be honest. It implies that there's something inheritably special about the LC that hasn't really existed in quite some time. Some will say it's the best off-road vehicle ever, but since taking on the sequoia/tundra components, it's not hugely different.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

over capacity is binary. You asked if removing the seats would help. The answer is binary. No. If you find that rude, that's on you.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

no. removing 60# will not increase your payload 520#
