    All Terrain Warriors campers

As I have only seen views from an angle perhaps the proportions are less exaggerated then they appear. What is the reasoning for the exaggerated overhang/up-swept rear-end of the camper? Are all versions of this new model going to follow the same basic design? It seems to make towing a...

    Outfitting a FG 4x4

Mog makes some good points regarding prices. Sometimes it seems not worth the hassle. However I remember a story in which a mother and her son where traveling west in a wagon train. Our old "wild west" days for those of you on the other side of the pond. The young son asked his mother why...

    Outfitting a FG 4x4

What is a reasonable expectation for ride quality after suspension modification? I am familiar with how 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton pickups ride on washboard roads and handle bumps. Can the ride get half ton smooth?

    Outfitting a FG 4x4

I have been lurking and reading for several months now and have many questions regarding the Fuso FG 4x4. Maybe this should be several threads or some kind of “sticky” listing popular modifications to the base vehicle? Lots of discussion about modifications etc. to the FG but not any info that...

    Expedition camping in Australia.

Not FG specific but I am interested in learning more about expedition camping/travel in Australia. All I have learned indicates that is the place for such activity. Where can one go to learn about it? Roads, routes, areas, seasons, etc.

    Fuso 3.0 , Duonic transmission, SCR ?

Even more importantly how does someone from South Africa have so much knowledge of the performance of US sold vehicles? 100% failure rate on transmissions? Really? Where do you get your information?

    WHEEL BALANCING BEADS

You would think that water in the wheels or some other liquid would work also. Even better if the theory actually works would be to incorporate the beads in a special holder in the rims.

out with the old in with the new

I don't think either of those apply with this frame style. The "movement" space is already accounted for in the spring clamps. Also I am not proposing raising the camper height at all. Simply considering the possibility of redesigning it to free up existing empty space to be more useful...

out with the old in with the new

Thank you very much. This is all new to me and so much to learn. Thanks for helping. BTW I have looked and not found a drawing showing the height of the step up in the frame. With it only being as you said, about 8", then no real storage space to be obtained anyway.

out with the old in with the new

In looking at the pictures of his sub frame build I have a couple of questions. RHS was used running front to back on top of the frame. It appears they were sized to allow the sub frame’s finished height to be constant through the step up of the frame. Then RHS was placed perpendicular on...

Rolling Studio - FG Camper Conversion

Fantastic build. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. If you said already I missed it. What are the final dimensions of the box? Length, width and height?

    Canter 4x4

I am in the same spot your are..........well sort of..........do I purchase a Cantor and build a box on it or do I use my F350. With the Canter I get a 13-14 foot box with that 20' overall length. With the F350 I can get a 10' flat bed and perhaps a 12' box max but be a much longer package...

    Canter 4x4

Yes 4 cylinder 3.0 liter with something called a DUONIC® 6-speed automated manual. As far as asking.........I have tried........LOL........even the sales people profess ignorance. Anyways it all ties into my concern and question about the taller tires having a big effect on gearing and...

    Canter 4x4

Thanks for the links Mog, good info. I think some background may put my question concerning gear ration in a better light. I have no doubt, as John has said, that the Canter will pull a load at slow speed through the sand. How will it do at highway speed, 55 MPH, when it hits a two mile long...

    Canter 4x4

Here in the US the lower gvw FE does offer a lower gear ratio. The heaviest one actually has a higher ratio. FE 125 12,500 GCW 4.875/5.285 FG4x4 14,050 GVW 5.285/5.714 FE160 15,995 GVW 5.285/5.714 FE180 17,995 GVW 6.166

    Canter 4x4

Anticipating heavy loads sounds plausible. Aren't expedition campers typically pushing max vehicle weight? I do wish the taller super single tires but also the ability to tow a heavy load hence my gearing question(s). Edit. Posted same time as well. I am happy to think a camper can be...

    Canter 4x4

I get the physics of it. So you are saying the Fuso engineers didn't choose the proper gear ratio tire size combinations?
  19. H

    Canter 4x4

The Fuso Canter comes with 235/85R16 tires. Many people particularly when going to singles install considerably taller tires. What does this do to gear ratios and do people typically install lower ratio differentials? Also are there after market 2 speed transfer cases available for new US...

    FG's in Action

Thanks a lot Mog. Now I'm more confused then ever. :sombrero: Basically the consensus is there is no consensus but lots of opinions. However all the truck manufacturers appear to have published their own mounting guides. Seems the best bet is to follow their recommendations.
