Out of interest how long do you expect a set of brakes to last.
I had mine all apart 2 weeks ago , I needed to replace a rear cylinder.
All the brakes were original from 1988. 145000 km
Loads of meat still on the linings.
All functioning perfectly.
The actuators for the parking brake and the...
When adjusting the brake shoes be very careful , The adjusters on these drums can be sized and stiff and easily broken.
You should never wind the shoes out against the spring , this is the easiest way to break them.
The easiest way on the rears is to put the parking brake on so the shoes are...
You can say that again, we first met and spoke about your truck at Willy Treffen Germany 10 years ago in 2013.
You needed a crew cab for the kids. I bet they are getting too old to want to go now.
Last push now get it finished and get yourself on the road
Best of luck Toby.

As far as I know he was and maybe still is in the same position as you. His truck was and possibly still is registered as a fire engine.
He may be able to help . Mention me at Cloud9.
He is a really nice bloke

Under no circumstances go down the SVA route to Motor Caravan, it will fail and be a whole world of grief.
It is not easy getting a truck like yours registered as a motor caravan.
Submit a change of use and test the water, see if they let you know where you need to change things.
Even with...
I have a 3mm alluminium plate covering the underside of both my steel tanks.
After 4 years in South America they a bashed to bits, but saved the tanks .
It's a good idea

I have done this journey in ours
I crossed the Andes in Chile and Argentina at least 20 times and didn't see a road that high.
The highest we saw was about 5200m ( 17000 ft) and it did it no problem.
Mine is a basic set up and not modified.
If yours has the OM352A engine then it has a...
Not sure how high you are going but I have cold started mine at over 5000m ( 16500 ft ) at minus 25c.
Does yours not have a turbo, doesn't it have the OM352A engine

We're you present when it was pulled into the loader. If so was the air system definitely up to full pressure and the parking brake fully released or could it have been still on and was pulled against the brakes friction causing damage inside the drums.
I'm with Jon , take...
Hi Gary
Sorry to hear your issues.
I'm a bit confused by the description.
I'm assuming it was all good before the two truck put air in the system.
Pressurising the system to just over 6 bar will be sufficient . To get the parking brake off . You cannot over pressurecthe system as it will...
You need to ask yourself, what and where you will be travelling.
99.9% of overlanding is Not off-road. However, you will travell some of the time on Bad Roads . Both the SK and NG are equally capable of this and there will be very little difference in ability when compared to the unimog . For...
Agreed, Looks very tight and awkward. I must admit I haven't actually seen a double cab tipped, so maybe it's correct.
My point of reference was the single cabs which really tip over, completely out of the way .
I think adding an extra prop for safety is a wise move
