    Mercedes Overland Building/Tuning

Does the cab not lift more than that. Does it not go past the point of non return . Access looks tight , and dare I say it a bit dangerous, having had my cab lift hydraulics fail on me . Neil

    Mercedes Overland Building/Tuning

My 1017 must be in neutral to start. If its not it is simply dead. On top of my gearbox is a switch. I have had this fail so it's worth checking. It can be easily bypassed to check . Neil

What type of AC shore power protection are people using?

This looks like a great device for 240v 50 htz power supply. Unfortunately, I can se it working outside those ranges so probably not ideal for world travel . Neil

What type of AC shore power protection are people using?

This sounds interesting. I am open to any suggestions . Would the system you are talking about handle the range of voltages required for global protection . Would it also be able to handle power supplies that fluctuate from 90v to 200v and back constantly. This is not an uncommon...

What type of AC shore power protection are people using?

I have done a little bit of research into this after a charger of mine got fried after a huge spike. . It was a really big spike as I was in a 110v country and my charger is good for 260v My overlanding neighbour got his big Victron Inverter Charger fried in the same spike, so I got off lightly...

    917af pictures so far

An update for this thread Sadly Ian , Canals 1164, died a few years ago. We knew him reasonably well and had actually arranged a weekend away with him on the day he died. It was very unexpected and very sad. His vehicle was eventually sold to a friend of ours who , unfortunately, isn't a...

    1124 AF Double Cab

Hi Toby We have ISRI mechanical seats. I would be surprised if they weigh less or are simpler than the air ride equivalent. If I take out the seat cushion the box below is absolutely crammed with Springs, Dampers and metal supports etc. They weigh a ton ( figure of speech) . However, we have...

    Diesel water separator and filter

Although I don't use CAV filters I have seen this brand for sale throughout South America and now here in Mexico so I think it would be a good choice as it appears to be pretty universal Neil

    Diesel water separator and filter

I have a Separ Filter / separator on a 1017a with OM 352a engine It works brilliantly but you need to carry a few spare filters as they can be hard to source. You can wash them in petrol. Neil

    1124 AF Double Cab

We filter all water going into the tanks through a 10 inch paper sediment filter. All water leaving the tank goes through another 10 inch paper filter and then through a 10 inch carbon filter . Lastly all drinking water is delivered through its own tap via a seagull IV filter . Never had a...

Hydronic Radiant Floor Idea and Feedback Request

We have a 10kw hydronic system . It cost a lot of money In the last 4 years throughout South America we have been in some pretty bleak conditions . Sideways snow , Rain and minus 25 . In all that time I have used our 10kw furnace for heating the cabin no more than 2 or 3 times. We sleep...

    Cracked U Bolt Top Plate

Jon I'm currently on a Camp site in Oaxaca . There are several Germans here that have been here for the entire Pandemic. Parcels from Europe arrive here every day. We have two roof fans from the UK arriving today. I think getting things shipped to Mexico might be easier than you think. Most...

    DC to DC Chargers

Ingenious idea. Hadn'thought of that. Not entirely sure its easier and more simple than wiring in a B2B between the two battery banks Good thinking though, thanks Neil

Probably the best steps I have ever seen

The owners claim not as they are all enclosed and dust free when travelling. Just a bit of spray grease here and there I have a triple kwikee step and this is a horrendous maintenance nightmare as it's all exposed to the road dirt Neil

Probably the best steps I have ever seen

These steps by Krug ( Ukraine ) are probably the best steps I have ever seen. All Stainless steel, They fold out Hydraulically in about 2 seconds from a self contained locker The Bottom step floats and they are surprisingly solid. A Piece of art . They are sold by Krug as a part Neil

    DC to DC Chargers

I think I have seen this video to. If its the same one it is flawed test . The tester claimed that the Alternator wasn't going fast enough to keep cool and simply overheated and burnt out. However of you look at thectest he has the alternator being powered by a belt and pully on an electric...
