    Scout Camper

I have seen one YouTube video with two parts that I thought was a decent review. I'm just surprised there aren't more with all the publicity these campers have generated. As far as the quality over quantity response, they do seem to be quality built from the videos I've seen so I'm inclined to...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Thanks for heads up. Nice to finally see some independent reviews.

    Scout Camper

Just noticed this is under the pop-up forum, should be under hard side truck campers. Anyone with moderator powers available to move it?

    Scout Camper

Has anyone seen any independent reviews of scout campers? There are a lot of articles out there but they all read like press releases. There must be owners out there and with all the unique features, there must be some opinions on how well they work in practice.

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Question for anyone who has seen a Kenai in person or has first hand knowledge about the dinette. It seems like the right side backrest fits under a shelf almost flush with the edge. Does the shelf press against your back when the cushion compresses? It seems like an odd design but I think you...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Traditional stick camper construction doesn't interest me because I would like to only buy once. I like Northern lite but the light weight of Scout and taller interior are big advantages for me. The modularity and ease of making modifications to a scout are also big advantages. A lot of...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Thank you for the responses to my queen bed question. The nice thing about several of the options is they can be purchased after the fact for about the same price with no need for installation. I'm on the fence with the roof top tent as it will probably just be me and my dog most of the time. Is...

    Scout Olympic vs Kenai

Thanks for posting. This thread has the most information I could find on the Kenai Scout. I am also 6'4" which is very limiting when looking at smaller RVs. Did you test out the bed to see how you fit? Also, it looks like when the bed is extended to queen size, it blocks the Dometic cooler lid...

    Customized hard-side camper examples

Here is a great starting point for a custom truck camper for $15,800 https://www.commercialtrucktrader.com/listing/2019-MARANDA-TRUCK+BODY-5009846806?cmp=tirt-truck-5009846806-2986650&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwOz6BRCgARIsAKEG4FV3KAOCL95VmPpt8Y6sC92ejzbkJUR2Nuauuo4WUwsVShx0wCvSPdMaAnuVEALw_wcB

    Meet the "Hitch Hotel"

If you go to the website, the are still marketing the hitch-mounted version. The trailer seems to be a product addition, not replacement. Also, a trailer that short with such a tall load seems unstable. I would rather buy a Harbor Freight utility trailer and mount a roof top tent.

    Camper for the Cold

I have read several articles on cold weather modifications for RVs with good tips. Mostly involves stopping airflow where you don't want it and adding insulation in areas like windows and vents. Try googling cold weather modifications for rv camper or something like that.

    Mercedes Sprinter chassis cab Bargains

If I lived near Charlotte North Carolina, I would probably buy one of these as a starting point on a camper van. Unless they have some significant problem that isn't in the ad, seems like a great value. https://www.motor1.com/news/396723/300-mercedes-sprinters-auctioned/...

    Campers to consider

Seems like good advice, but I’m not the OP, that would be Luckychase5. ?

Magnum PI Ford Econoline TV show build

I saw this van on Coral Sea Road filming an episode. It looks great in real life.

    Campers to consider

I’m not familiar with that brand but at that price it looks to be a great value if it is in good condition.

    Campers to consider

I think all aluminum is a great option for build quality and longevity and they seem fairly reasonable on the used market. However, aluminum does not insulate temperature very well, (may not be important if weather is moderate). I would also consider fiberglass. Bigfoot and Northern Lite have...

    Advise on fiberglass shells

I don’t have first hand experience but I have been doing a lot of internet research on Bigfoot and Northern Lite fiberglass campers. From what I have read, everywhere that a hole was cut for windows, fans, AC, etc, should have been maintained with caulking to minimize or prevent leaks. If there...

Why F-550 instead of F-450 chassis cab?

I would imagine EarthRoamer would build your suspension however you want but the air suspension is what allows so much articulation. But I agree, it seems between the air suspension and ultra low sulfur diesel, EarthRoamers make more sense in North America.

Why F-550 instead of F-450 chassis cab?

EarthRoamer replaces the springs with kelderman air suspension. As far as I know, the F450 is otherwise the same. For legal reasons, it makes sense to start with a truck with a higher max GVWR. I was just wondering if there were any other mechanical differences.
