Some how I missed your post Lynn, its almost like this section is partitioned off from the forum.
Its been a long time since I bought a kit so my own experiences are a little out of date. But I've built in my younger days and have seen some nice rifles built from CVA Kits and the...
Thats a nice write up there young feller. I have come to the conclusion that all the more a new half shaft costs its just not worth the time and energy to swap out torn CV Boots and I just replace the whole axle as I have to yank it out of there anyways.
Welcome to the ExPo Tundrabird nation! Make sure you post up your travels here along with your mods as time passes along. We like to see where the Tundras have been roaming.
Good luck with your sale.
I find myself pondering putting the Mouser up for sale too, as we really don't use it like we use to and it sits in the garage more than it gets out these days. I just have to force myself out of love with it before I can do so.
You can keep the gun loaded for a couple of weeks as long as you store it in a dry location. Its not the best practice but with modern powders its not really that detrimental to the gun. Last year my step-brother forgot to discharge his after the January season and didn't realize it to this...
Kermit, it's an LS1 in a Tacoma...the Tundybird has no shortage of available horsepower and eats Chebys regularly at the stoplight dyno. I've done the GM thing and the Mopar thing...I'm sorta liking this Toyota thing.
Yeah, that's the ticket...quit monkeying around and break out that gov'ment retirement money and get it done. I want to go for a ride in it after its done. And possibly go blow the doors off a certian black tundra while we're at it.
"Stay alive..I will find you!" is my wife and I's standard parting phrase.
I guess with the whole black powder thing, living in a log cabin and having the house decorated in animal parts might be a dead give away. :ylsmoke:
Everybody sing..."He uses antlers in all of his decorating...Oh what...
This is my thought also, and I use a truck (my Tundra) and a SUV (my LJ) in our travels. I'm not an SUV fan for two reasons. The first is that I don't like having everything inside the cab with me. It makes noises, can become an impendement in cases where you might have to haul an unexpected...
Okay, to quit getting harassed by Dave, I’ll post a couple of my guns up...
This is the Kentucky long rifle that was my first black powder gun. I built from a CVA kit way back when I was around 12 or 13 years old. I killed a bunch of deer with this gun and a whole parcel of squirrels. Since...
Theres no rattle, its an interference fit. The maxi ball fits snuggly enough enough to contain the intial explosion and the grease allows the ball to rammed down the barrel. You would almost have to have a chance to ram a ball down to understand, its hard to convey a tactile sensation through...
This thread needs a few more pics..so here's a reference pic so folks can follow along with my rambling thoughts...
These are your typical black powder projectiles...
From left to right......traditional round ball......maxi ball......modern powerbelt.
Now that's a term I've never heard before.
No, because a smaller ball would require a thicker patch to be constrictive enough in the barrel to contain the explosive discharge when the guns fire. A thicker patch means a less accurate projectile. A lose ball wouldn't seal the explosion and it...
My mama always said there's no stupid questions only stupid answers...so I'll lay out a basic primer for how a black powder gun operates.
First....clean, clean, clean...Black powder guns don't like gunk and to insure that no hang fire (doesn't go off when the trigger is pulled) occurs the...
See, thats much better...
.62 cal definitely is a rarity even agmonst die hards. Are you using patch and ball or maxi balls in that one?
Do you hunt with them or are they for shooting? If hunting what game are you stalking out ther in Montana. Here in PA its just bear and white...
