Also, more updates on Edgar to come! I’m planning to do the Washington Back Country Discovery Route (WABDR) with friends in early July so I’ve got some work cut-out for me to get the ol’ truck in fighting form! Wish me luck!
So of course, I handed my buddy a fire extinguisher (I know better at this point, lol, a lot of rigs new and old have tried to light me on fire over the years and these jeeps didn’t come with fuses! After another fluid and check-over, away we went.
You can bet the neighbors had a double take...
Took a break from the norm yesterday to have a wrench day with buddies. We needed to put together a new spring pack for Nick’s 2015 Frontier Crew Cab long-bed which required some good old fashioned fiddling around. Added a U-bolt flip kit that needed trimming as well as a few other things...
Had a great time exploring the North Fork with friends today. Mostly just unmaintained forest road cruising but there was some fun stuff in there as well. Had to turn around a few times due to tree falls (not just a few trees, usually 20-50, one after the other, blocking the road) as it's still...
Got a couple other things squared away, took the canopy back off and bolted the tool box back on and got all my gear together. Headed about 40 miles NE to Snoqualmie to explore some of the dirt up there with my buddies. We’ll see how she goes... she won’t be this shiny this time tomorrow that’s...
Sometimes it’s the little things... the previous owner managed to not only rip the parking brake release handle off (pretty normal), but also sheared the pedal release lever off the pedal ratchet itself and bent up a bunch of the mechanism...
With a much better condition new (used) parking...
I’m curious to get some miles on them... My WAG is that they’re KYB’s version of a Bilstein 4600/5100 but at half the cost (especially with rebates). I’ve had good luck with Monroes over the years as well. It’s good to hear the Reflexes have served you well!
Like a wise wrench once said “Every 30 minute job is one broken bolt away from becoming a 3 day ordeal.” What should have taken me about 30 minutes (replacing the rear shocks) ended up being a bit more of a struggle due to all of the upper shock bolts being frozen solid (should have hit ‘em with...
In preparation for a little dirt adventure this upcoming weekend, I’m finally getting the cooling system up to snuff, by replacing the dumb heater hose quick connect on the intake manifold with a proper barb fitting (wish me luck, I hope to god it comes out without surgery!):
... and new...
Great adventures and build thread @badm0t0rfinger! Good call on the RAM mount. Through a decade of motorcycle, off-road and aircraft adventures and racing I've had yet to have one fail on me (knock on wood)... they just work.
The bed rack setup is ultra slick!
With the boat launches and fishing reopening in the past few days and with the weather being perfect, I had to get out on the water for the first time this season:
Loaded up the truck and headed out to Lake Kapowsin, the only parking spot available being next to another K1500.
Haven't...
Oooooh man! Awesome rigs (and home) @BritKLR! Your Tiger camper is just plain awesome; I didn’t know those existed! I really like the idea of having a truck-chassis based camper vs. a van-chassis based one. Seems like it would be so much nicer to maintain!
Thanks for the kind words BritKLR and I'll keep 'er movin'! Right now I'm in rebuild, repair and service" mode but look forward to showing you all some of my favorite spots with ol' Edger here on the west side of Mt. Rainier this summer.
Nice work on the Ex and I'm digging the Dana 60 and pictures from the Colorado trip! My first vehicle was almost a 1974 International 1210 with a 345/4speed and since I learned about those trucks, I've always had a soft spot for Cornbinders. That travelette is awesome.
Thanks a ton @nitro_rat and @vargsmetal, that points me in the right direction! I think for the moment, with the new much-wider/larger rad install (going to the 34" wide HD cooling unit from the 28") I'll just delete the oil cooler for now and change the filter adapter/filter as mentioned. Looks...
I'm sure you've probably already seen them @vargsmetal, but here are some photos of the two non-cable-shift-lever actuators for the OX locker. Here's the electric actuator that works in conjunction with a cable (they say 36"-48" works best) :
...and the air actuator that is all on the outside...
So, while I'm busy knocking out some other work/house/family projects that need to get done before I dig into Edger, I'm getting the parts lined up as you all can see. I ordered up a set of the United Packard/Delphi silicone wire set as they look good and are reasonably priced (thanks for the...
You and I both... :ROFLMAO: I spent some time in Baja riding around in a 4 door Centurion C-350 (One Ton) Diesel Bronco that was pretty darn cool as well.
Yeah, you really don't see too many 4fourdoor GMT400s. Here in Washington state, when I do see them, they are usually 2WD, long-bed work...
