Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

Got a few updates. 1. Removed the rear sway bar. You don't have to cut it. We had the car on a lift, removed one shock (while supporting the diff), removed all bolts holding the sway bar, and basically took it out through the center of the car. 10 minute job. You can probably do it in...

How to tell if broken attend is powered?

Update: I have replaced the antenna mast and I'm good to go! Got the part from http://www.antennamastsrus.com/. The plastic base required a little sanding to get it to fit...but afterwards it was really easy.

Middle row seat release cable broken, what part do I need?

Here is the part number I believe: MR219598 Anyone have an idea of where to get a new one or a OE manufactured one?

Middle row seat release cable broken, what part do I need?

I think you need to remove the front bolts, then fold the front up so it rests on the back side. Then you can see what else you need to remove to get the seat out. Btw: I confirmed with the dealer that Mitsu no longer makes/sells those cables.

Middle row seat release cable broken, what part do I need?

There is a cable that runs from the seat back to the seat bottom which releases the inside latch for the purposes of folding the entire seat forward (when needing maximum cargo space). This cable has snapped right where the seat back and bottom meet. When you fold the seat, it causes the cable...

How to tell if broken attend is powered?

Off Roader: the install was painless. There is a window that shows up during the install which tells you which options to select. Inyo Man: I had to dig into the wheel well to 1) connect power and 2) remove the broken piece left in the spool.

How to tell if broken attend is powered?

Off Roader, The dealers finally pissed me off enough and I got ASA loaded up. Took 5 min but I think I got my answer: MB406894 Off to the dealer tomorrow and hopefully buy a few clips. With the general lack of info on the internet for Montero parts I'm going to be using ASA quite a bit...

How to tell if broken attend is powered?

Hi James, Thanks for the info. I've never seen that button. But I did figure out a few things. In my case, someone had unplugged the wiring harness from the antenna motor so it would not keep working. As soon as I hooked it up it started to work. The way the Montero is, when you tun the...

How to tell if broken attend is powered?

I've decided to fix my broken antenna. The actual mast is broken with nothing obvious in the hole. Apparently there are different antenna options on the Montero. I looked in the owners manual for a antenna fuse but saw no mention. When I turn on the stereo I don't hear a motor either. So short...

    Sunroof Woes on GEN2

I have the service manual, and frankly it sucks. It gives you an idea...but that's about it. Having said that, I don't see how the drains come into play with the issue at hand. Specifically, should all 4 mounting points move together? Can the motor be replaced without dropping the whole...

    Sunroof Woes on GEN2

Since owning this car the sunroof has never worked. More specifically, it goes back about a foot then slows and stops. Afterwards, when closing it, it moves forward a few inches slowly and then again stops. You have to help it along to get it to close. So last week, I removed the glass from...

Mitsubishi Owners Day July 19, 2013 (Cypress CA) Mitsubishi Motors N. America Corp HQ

Sean, the Holy Jim trail sounds interesting. I might be down for that. Could you let me know what that entails and if you'll be going?

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

I was able to go to Coyote Flats (Eastern Sierras) again last weekend. I had my car and my buddy had his Bronco. Montero did great and it was a lot of fun. I think we should all plan a trip out there. You guys would love it. I have some more pictures on Flickr, including last year's visit...

    September 2011, Coyote Flats

I went out there twice last year and will be going this coming weekend. Because of the relatively dry winter, word is that sometime in June fires will be banned up there. So keep that in mind. That aside, it is an absolutely beautiful place. Even on a long weekend you might see one or two...

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

Got a couple of updates worth sharing. I finally got around to putting some accessories in the Montero. I've noticed that on trips there is always the need to either power or charge items. So what I did initially (few posts back) is run a power wire from the battery to a distribution block...

SoCal wrenching help requested! Can anyone assist?

Wow, awesome pix! Any chance there will be an extra gas tank and shield? If not which parts place did you go to?

    Temp Gauge Inside Compass

The digital temp gauge is for ambient temp. I have the same issue where it climbs as soon as the car stops. From what I've noticed, the engine compartment of the Montero runs hot. I can always feel heat coming off of it. But the coolant temp gauge for me never moves unless I'm off roading...

1992 Montero - Already built, build thread!

Can you provide additional pix of the rear bumper? I'm interested in having something like that made for mine. Do you know if it started out as a bumper for another car that was made to work with the montero?
