Want to see what you guys think!

With OBDII, it is normal for the light to come and go. OBDII runs certain "tests" in certain situations. So if it runs a test and it fails, the light comes on. If it runs the test and passes, then the light goes on. But the code is stored for sometime before it is cleared and a "readiness...

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

Given that's its plastic I know a used one will break sooner rather than later. And it's never at the right time! So new was good for me.

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

As luck would have it, the rear external door handle broke yesterday, forcing me to have to open the rear door from the inside. Since I had some time, I printed out the instructions of taking everything apart and proceeded with doing the work. The service manual has most of the info, but the...

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

I finally got to accomplishing something I've wanted to do for a long time...wiring hole in the firewall. I needed a hole and a power distribution block so that I can easily add accessories down the line. Thanks to the help of a friend we got it figured out. Below are the pictures. But...

12V socket not working, but fuse is fine

I finally got it sorted. A circuit tester and a multimeter were the tools needed. I used the circuit tester to determine the fuse had power along with the harness connector at the base of the 12 socket. This was a sigh of relief as it meant the wiring was fine and the issue was with the...

12V socket not working, but fuse is fine

When I looked at the owners manual, it referenced the fuse compartment under the dash. The layout I believe was spot 1. I just need to get in there with a multimeter first to ensure there is power at the fuse...then check the socket and associated wiring. This should be fun!

12V socket not working, but fuse is fine

On my GenII, I had an accessory plugged in to the cig lighter socket (by the handbrake) for a few minutes. I'm sure it put a bit of a load on the circuit. Now there is no power coming out of the socket but the fuse is fine. I switched fuses, but no dice. I'll probably have to pull things...

    Roof Rack Options?

I have a friend who has a CURT roof rack (http://www.amazon.com/Curt-18115-Roof-Mounted-Cargo/dp/B004O844DS). He is willing to give this to me for a cheap price. But on my OEM roof rack, one of the cross bars is missing. I believe the side bar is actually damaged, so I can't utilize it to...

    Overheating issues

I've seen the same tranny temp issues happen on 2011 and 2012 Jeeps. They had it either in 4H or 4L and set to Drive. As soon as they switched to 4L and used 1st and 2nd as necessary...all was well. Let me know if you head out for some wheelin' again. I love the Sierras and might be able to...

Sure thing there. I'd rather add a fan to the cooler than place a second one.

    Overheating issues

Quick question: how did you run wires from the engine compartment through the firewall into the interior?

    Overheating issues

The timing on this thread is perfect. I can add some light to these two questions. So a couple of months ago, I went Coyote Flats in the Eastern Sierras. We ended up around 10,000 feet. When we went the weather was cold (probably around 50 during the day and down to 25 at night). While on a...

    GENII Radio Antenna Question

My stereo antenna is physically broken. It looks like it was broken off at some point. I'm looking to fix this. But as usual I have some questions. Looking at the manual, it indicates that if it is the motor, then I gotta get the fender off or the passenger footwell area in order to get to...

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

Coyote is outside of Bishop CA, west of it basically in the Sierras. Swansea is east of Lone Pine, CA (which is 40 miles south of Bishop). That whole area, on either side of the 395 has some trails to explore. We should be making a trip out there.. I think some aux lighting coupled with...

Just bought a 96 Montero SR...joining the crowd

It's been a while since I've updated, but I do have a couple of updates. Over the last month I've taken my car to two amazing places: 1. Coyote Flat in the Sierras (with one other car) 2. Swansea-Cerra Gordo with a local club (bunch of fixed up Jeeps) In neither instance were we doing any...

    Eurosonic's Montero 2.5Gen Build Thread

Quick question: to get the front fenders off, does the front bumper have to be removed? Also, is there double-sided tape anywhere or some other padding that must be replaced when removing the fenders?
