My sunroof is very slow to open and close, it basically needs my assistance. The tracks don't seem to have any debris issues. Given the low cost of a used motor, if I want to swap it out, is it as simple as removing the cover (where the motor can be manually turned)? Or do I need to drop...
Just out of curiosity, can the intake butterfly issue cause this? Is there an easy test to determine if the butterfly has anything to do with it? Is there a way to easily bypass it?
I received the used part from Ebay today and just put it in. I let it idle for a few minutes and I drove around the block once. The issue is still there...maybe even worse...too early to tell. Do I need to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU or anything? I'm really confused about this...
Couple of notes on the IAC based on recent experience:
1. Apparently there are two styles: one is the original beige unit which fails and the second is the redesigned black unit that is supposed to work better.
2. Dealer wants something like $457 for the part. A mitsubishi junk yard I found...
Thanks Patman, valid points you make. How do I check for a vacuum leak? I'm not a mechanic and I don't have a vacuum gauge to hook up. I'll try and double check the vacuum lines that I do see.
So this evening, I took the IAC out, cleaned it and put it back in. No difference. However my...
I was reading over at 4x4wire about idle issues that were tied to the IAC. I'm just thrown off by the fact that with the AC running, its perfect. You'd think the IAC would not work properly whether the AC was on or not. So my guess would be it is not the IAC. I'll see if I can remove it and...
I've never seen such an issue on ANY car....and I've owned a few European cars. Basically, the car is idling at 1,500 to 2,000 RPM. This is after it is warmed up or even after a 40 mile drive on the freeway. It could be in gear, park or neutral. The idle in park or neutral weel creep up to...
I think my mechanic lost a piece, but I can't prove it! Anyway, there is a wiring harness that is either for the TB or IAC, it is between the firewall and TB. The harness is held securely to its base by a metal clip that looks a bit like a paperclip. This part is missing, meaning the harness...
The car is with my mechanic now. From what the mechanic said, they've checked the plugs on one side, and they looked correct and good. They will be checking the other side (the more difficult side) this coming week. I've asked them to replace the fuel filter. I've also asked them to inspect...
Thank you sir for the feedback. My family has owned V6 Toyota sedans for 15 years and they've all been pretty smooth from what I could remember. But if you experience it and have heard of others (along with no CE light on my OBD2 car) then I'm good with that!
Thanks again,
Mike
The car drives great and the engine is overall very smooth. As far as I can tell power is great as well. But at idle, it feels a little rough. I don't want to make it sound terrible, but it doesn't feel quite right to me. It almost feels like constant misfires, but I don't think that to be...
it's a 96 SR.
Thanks for the description of the exact issues with leaving the sway in. I definitely have a better understanding of the issues with the quick disconnect idea. For now, the sway will stay on. The car is currently being serviced, next will be 33x12.5x15 tires. Once complete...
