Lots of variables and even more opinions I'm sure. :ylsmoke:
For car shows, pavement, and smooth gravel roads ... go big as you like.
For light-duty off-road use ... 37's.
For medium-duty off-road use ... 35's.
For hardcore off-road use ... swap axle.
I tend to have a pessimistic outlook on...
40" tires are gonna play hell with that stock front axle. :Wow1:
I'm goin' with a full chromoly DynaTrac ProRock 60 under the front and I'm only runnin' 37's.
That's not really my takeaway from it ... but there is some mighty fine scenery tho.
Almost painful to watch while I'm sittin' here workin' in the shadows of Manhattan. :(
Just can't bring myself to get excited about any new truck. The separation between car and truck continues to narrow. Maybe I'm just too old-school.
Might try Good Sam Club. I'm a lifetime member from back in my motorhome days so not sure what their membership dues are these days or if they're even still in bid'ness. But they were willin' to call just 'bout anythang an RV and their insurance was cheap.
Never had to file a claim with them...
To each his own ... but I sure wouldn't want it.
Wouldn't mind havin' his long list of sponsers though so I could spend their money on somethin' I WOULD want. :D
The glory of having a camper custom built to your specs is that you get exactly what you want.
And there ain't no right or wrong when it's exactly what you want.
They should be cashin' my deposit check in the next few days. :D
Unless you can squeeze thru that lil' front window, you'd best have an escape hatch thru the roof. Someone come along at night and close the tailgate you'd be stuck. My truck club's full of practical jokers that would have a field day with this.
Mine won't have the tailgate and I'll have locks...
The Brute's actually fun to drive once you yank out that anemic 6-banger and drop a Hemi in it.
But then you'll find out pretty quick how weak that Dana 30 is in the front ... and the Dana 44 in the rear ... when you do even moderate off-roading. Hard-core off-roading will then expose the...
Roughly, you can figure $10k for the parts and $10k for labor. Used Brute's with the stock Rubicon drivetrain sell for around $35k these days. This one has the Dana 30 front end.
Most interesting. Last thing I saw him post up on the AEV Brute forum was he was looking at adding a second...
To move the conversation to your thread instead of the picture thread ...
So you have to carry the spare tire through the camper to get to it? Removing the clean spare that way is one thing ... putting the dirty/muddy flat tire back up there is another. Any thoughts for an external mount...
Great response sir ... I find various forums, including this one, to be highly entertaining. :lurk:
Got a nice morning chuckle with the truck in the background being lifted off the frame. :coffeedrink:
Y'all please carry on. :ylsmoke:
