What are you planning on doing with them? Having owned both (1989 YJ, 2002 TJ) I happen to like the YJs (especially with a CJ front clip and dash!) and find that the leaf springs are actually pretty nice - fewer points to wear out, easier to beef-up your load handling ability if so desired...

How did I miss this post the first time around? Who knows. Awesome trip. Keep on posting pics! I have a list of places that I would travel to if/when I became wealthy enough to do so. This is one of those trips. I would love to see the time-stands-still state of affairs in rural Russia.

UPDATE! 1. The Storage System - worked like a charm for UPOverland 2009. Kept everything in place, and made it SO much easier to set up and break down camp in the pouring rain because there was no need to remove everything to get to the bottom layer.. ActionPackers on the bottom accessed...

I don't remember the backspace numbers, but here is the factory steel wheels with an unusually wide 31-10.50-15.

And a good .02 it was! Right on the money. The shocks are newer, and damping is not a problem. The factory spring rate is. Especially with the front sway bar connected, because it straight up doesn't let the front suspension flex, all of the articulation all gets transferred to the back end...

They're from Air Lift (http://www.airliftcompany.com/). We'll see how they handle off-pavement use this coming week. Around town and with the trailer on, the improvement is profound and appreciated. More details to follow...
