Looking for the most efficient solar panel

The best commercially available solar panels will product about 200W per square meter under optimal conditions. For 800W you would need 4 square meters (~43 sq.ft.). I've had two Renogy 100W rigid panels on my camper roof for 9 years without issue.

Solar panel fuse, where to put it

Renogy recommends 3 fuses in your system: panels to controller, controller to battery, batter to distribution. ABYC specifies battery fuse no more than 8" from battery. Your controller manufacturer should recommend the size of fuse. https://www.renogy.com/blog/how-to-fuse-your-solar-system/ I...

    Ice, Ice, Baby 2024

What is the advantage of bi-directional DC to DC charging? I understand charging your house batteries from the truck alternator and being able to use the house batteries as a booster to the starter battery. But using solar/wind/generator to charge the starter battery? They are small outputs...

Colorado Teardrops Manufacturer Files for Bankruptcy Protection doing just like moby1 advertising for the new company before they even get out of bank

The problem is build quality not material. I know lots of people who have 10+ y.o. wood framed campers; some use them hard. None that I know of have needed structural repairs. Composite builds are too new to know how they will hold up with the normal RV build quality. Maybe 6912 means those...

2012 Ram 3500 Halogen to LED upgrade

Unfortunately, Minnesota (and I think a lot of other states) have strict limits to what lights you can run on public roads. it is illegal to have more than 4 auxiliary lamps lighted on at any one time on public roads (169.63b). And there is a maximum candlepower (169.56c). No added lights can...

In Support of a Household 120V Fridge in a Camper?

You best test your own refrigerator. Fire it up at home and see what surfaces get warm. On mine, the left side gets warmest. All the dorm fridges I have seen have no exposed heat exchanger, use skin cooling. I think designers expect kids to push the refrigerator back against the wall.

Sounds like Stellantis is on the right path.

All news media is a '100% biased source'. If you are not seriously considering news from alternate biases you are being indoctrinated not educated; your 'looping in a bubble'. If one does not '100% cure' cancer you still have cancer. All you have done is delay the inevitable.

especially well reasoned doubt (even if you don't agree with the reasoning). It's not lack of imagination. It's lack of trust in our leaders. I'm from the Vietnam/Woodstock generation; I don't blindly believe anything that has our governments stamp of approval. I will research things that...

Sounds like Stellantis is on the right path.

I know of only a couple of people (mostly retired) that that is true for. That might be true 5 days a week, 48 weeks a year, and don't have kids to haul around to activities after school. But most of us cannot afford a dedicated commute vehicle. We need something that will do multiple things...

In Support of a Household 120V Fridge in a Camper?

I have been running a 2.1 cu.in. 'dorm' fridge purchased from Home Depot (~$150) for 3 years with a Victron 750 VA PSW inverter (it has a sleep mode that draws ~ 0.1A). It works fine in temperatures up into the 90ºs; doesn't work well in temps under 45ºF. It has withstood miles of bad...

Sounds like Stellantis is on the right path.

What's your point? Advanced economies encourage companies to specialize: petroleum refiners to extract useful products from crude oil, electric power companies to produce electricity. Refineries can generate all their own electricity (most produce about 50% from waste gasses) but it would be...

Diesel Heater Ducting? What to use?

Thanks, HWY396ghost. I don't know how I missed your post when I searched. Angle flange was the term I was missing. A couple of questions: How do you connect the hose to the flange? My hose is 3.13" inside diameter, so won't fit through a 3" fitting. What material are you passing through...

Diesel Heater Ducting? What to use?

I'm doing the same thing. What I am thinking is either a 3" wall thimble or a silicone tent jack. Double wall thimble is my first choice right now but watching to see if one of you come up with a better solution. Would require making a plug for when not in use...

You are correct: diesel power will be around for decades. The problem is will the government restrict who can obtain it, so you might not be able to purchase for personal use? I used to think that but a conversation with a petroleum engineer changed my thinking. When a barrel of crude is...

    Insurance Woes

An 'Agreed Value Policy'. I've done this on a number of custom and modified cars and trucks. You and your insurance company come to an agreement of the value of your van and it's additions. The insurance company will dictate what you need to provide to prove value. These policies are more...

Reasonable Internet service if you are not using Starlink?

I haven't tried this. I have an acquaintance that uses a cell booster and directional antenna up high to find cell towers that are less busy or out of normal cell phone range. He also has phones for all three major carriers to choose from.

Didn't get a chance to talk to the owner, he was too busy on the swing set. His mother gave me the specs as she could remember them: top speed = ~ 2 mph payload = ~ 60 lbs range = 3 -5 miles, depending on terrain recharge time = ~ 8 hours
