    Herbie's Chevy Astrolander/ZMB Build Thread

The S10 front axle is 60" wide, while the Astro front axle is 66" wide. Who would have thought, eh? There is merrit in the idea of going pre runner style...but then on the other hand, if you get stuck out in the backcountry in a two wheel drive Astro van, the consensus will be "What the hell...

Nice. Does the late model front end bolt right in? It sure looks great.

    Herbie's Chevy Astrolander/ZMB Build Thread

If I were to do another AstroLander, I would search for an AWD GTRV, or an AWD Hi Top to send to Colorado CamperVan and have Derek work his magic on popping the top.

    confidence and 4wd ability

I agree with Derek. The major difference being that the COG tends to be higher in a van, so it will rock side to side easier. Be mindful of inertia, let the van gather a bit before hitting the next cross whoop/rock/whatever.

1991 Ford "Ducks Unlimited" Special Edition 7.3 Diesel 4x4 *Help-What Would You DO?*

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1072682-head-gasket-replacement-on-1992-ford-e350-7-3l-diesel.html These guys bring up a good point to make sure it's the head gasket and not the oil cooler rings. Check it out. Dang, I was just in San Diego for 10 days (7 at the Convention Center Marriot...

1991 Ford "Ducks Unlimited" Special Edition 7.3 Diesel 4x4 *Help-What Would You DO?*

Bada bing, bada boom! Then use it for all the reasons you bought it for and you will then begin to realize what interior and exterior mods will work best for you. Its too easy to get sucked into making a project bigger than it ever needed to be. Think of it as a work in progress so you can...

    RK's MANi-Van - UP FOR SALE

I am going to remove my cladding also. I have the non cladding fender flares from a cargo van sitting patiently in the garage. I will also keep mine body color. It may be a winter weekend project: too much riding and paddling to do yet this summer.

    Syncro Vs. Sportsmobile

12 years ago we looked at a Westy that was called "The Wesel" and had the name on the back of the van. It was owned by a young guy named Wes and all his friends called the van "The Wesel" so he officially named it that. One selling point, he said, was that he did not take it up to Mt Baker Ski...

    Tiger (GT and XL) Hunting

Linda, is that yours parked on the street near the San Diego Zoo? Herbie and his family invited our family to the zoo while we were in San Diego last week on business/holiday, and I spied a GT about a mile or two from the zoo. The next day I saw a lifted two tone gray Astro with Baja Cali...

    Syncro Vs. Sportsmobile

I've owned numerous Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, Chevy's and Dodges. Haven't had an unreliable vehicle yet. However, a '95 Toyota 4x4 Tacoma did ruin the whole Toyota mystique for me when at 37,000 easy miles, both rear leaf pacs broke as I pulled out of the driveway one day. I've gotten F-250's...

    Syncro Vs. Sportsmobile

Any of you actually seen a pop top Sienna? A guy in town has one and I have seen the GTRV rally. That is a prety small interior. Price wise, it certainly didn't penicil out for me, nor make sense, but to each his own. The T5 has some very nice features and looks awesome, but VW has too many...

    Syncro Vs. Sportsmobile

That looks real good. But by the time they bring it over here, my family will have grown into the need for an SMB. And can Toyota still make the claim of having Toyota reliability?:ylsmoke:

    Tiger (GT and XL) Hunting

That could be one that i looked at 3 or 4 yrs ago (but it may have had 50k more Klicks on it). It doesn't say all wheel drive, but the one I looked at was. It was tired, but the camping interior had never been used, had never been used. The thing couldn't pull it's own shadow on a cloudy...

Sweet rig, JT. Love the Off-Road Trek. Do you have a link to a video of your rig's interior? @ illking; great old G30. one of my favorite platforms. Not too much long than an Astro but nicely wider. Is that an XR? Are you on ThumperTalk or ADVrider? @ MWendell. The Suby Westy package...

Holy crap! I thought he was going to Texas? What'd he do, accidently take a left on a roundabout in Albequerque? With or without Mom? How bout a pic including Outta the Basement Yeti, A-Man, and the bike you've hated all these years.:sombrero:
