You should look up other threads in replacement tents. Martyn was on this at one point. Tents require much more precise sewing than a rain fly. It is more like assembling a spinnaker. It's too expensive for a few tents. We also discussed mods to the existing tent in another thread. Worth a look...

OK, I went to look at a 2006 GC Ltd with QDII and a 4.7 at a local used car lot today. Definitely not the car for me. Oh, I am still thinking GC CRD, but the one I looked at today did this to me: I wanted to look around the cargo area. The hatch was heavy, but I lifted it to the fully open...

You are misquoting the rules. These are the For Sale Section Guidelines: Items and vehicles should be at least loosely associated with adventure travel. No firearms, firearm parts, or ammunition are to be listed for sale. No harassment: an item is worth what someone else will pay for it. To dump...

Hey, I thought I'd throw a wrench into the works: another vehicle I was considering is the Honda Ridgeline. I think that it is completely soul-less but might have enough versatility or quirky-ness to make it an interesting option. Throw wheeling out the window, of course. But off-road-ability...

That's an excellent comparison between the Runner and the GC. I had thought about the 4Runner. It just lacks character (and a diesel option...). I ride a Buell Ulysses motorcycle. A Suzuki VStrom is far more reliable but has no soul, if a machine can be described as having soul. Same with the...

YEs, I am looking around on the used car lots for one. Lots of GC's but not lots of WKs. Love to drive a diesel before flying to PHX/DEN/SEA/wherever to buy one, but that may not be in the cards... Interestingly, J-n-M, I would consider an OBS Chevy, extra-cab, short-bed diesel as an only...

Hi guys, Thanks to each of your for adding something to the conversation. I have been engrossed in learning about these rigs and am only concerned about the interior space. I just need to find one locally to test fit. There are lots of them out there. Should not be too difficult to do. Our...

I am bumping this and lowering the price to $4,500 and including the Thule rack. Car is at 216k miles now. Would love to sell before mid-January. Not in a rush. Just hoping for the right person. Would consider trading the Jetta TDI toward a '07-'08 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. Thanks, Bill

That's great info, Jason. Thanks. Seeing that you are in the rust belt, how do WKs hold up there? I was looking at one in Denver and the owner mentioned rust, which shocked me. What's your experience? Thanks, Bill

Hi guys, I am considering selling my 1996 Chevy K1500 that I use to camp and tow and is confgured as our dog car. It does all those things well but sucks the gas. To compensate for the poor gas mileage I also own/drive a 2002 Jetta TDI. So, my family average fuel economy (FAFE) is somewhere...

    flippac waterproofing

I have used mine for two solid days of heavy rain with no problems. You're right. It is soaked when the party is over, but it did not leak. It does need to be drawn tightly over the tent bows and staked out away from the truck where possible. I think it is wise to treat it with Nikwax, too. I...

That's why we designed it with loops and ladder buckles. You can stake the fly out away from the truck. I also pull it tight around the lid with the 1" webbing. Works great.

    flippac waterproofing

The problem, as Arclight alluded, is less about water-tight-ness and more about drainage. Water can run down the side of a waterproof tent and then into the camper shell where it will then pool around the mattress. Don't ask me how I know... Very difficult to divert the water. One option we...

I have sold a few vehicles on ExPo. Much better audience, but less likely to find the right person for a car like this. I also have it on Adventure Rider, TDI Club, and Craigslist. We advertise our rental properties on Craigslist and get responses from all sorts of trolls. I cannot repeat some...

Rethinking this a little bit. I'd probably replace the EGR with the newer one (which is five bolts and a vacuum line) and check the intake while I was there. It may not be too gunked up. If it is, swap it out for the clean one. Intake is a little more complicated, and includes a coolant pipe (if...
