The M-series or 416 is much easier to build than the J-series. I then mocked up the sides and
fenders on the frame so I could drill the holes to put things together. Also so I could decide
where to mount the fenders. I did move the axle up a little and will be adding a box on front.
From my...
I built a J-series dinoot so thought I didn't have enough trailers ( 5 ) so tried my hand at
building a M416 replica. Started with a 2x3 1/8 inch wall frame. Still had 3 rubicon wheels
and tires so ordered a straight axle from dinoot . Added some extension to the frame so
I could build some...
If you would like to see the wheels I will be in flagstaff, AA on tuesday May 25th and thursday May 27th
send me a PM if you would like to arrange a meet location and time. I know no one want to buy something
without seeing it first.
Will be in Phoenix on Tuesday April 13 about 1030 hrs if anyone wants to see
the wheel. PM me to setup a location and time. I known no one want to buy something
without seeing it first. Done until next trip down
maiden voyage on the mojave road. with the water crossing. meet only one party which
were going west to east and they warned us that the water over over their 17 inch tires.
put in a water tank just in front of the axle the spare sit just in front and
protects the tank. I used plywood that was bedlined as a skidplate. I weld
square tubing and welded bolts to that. Should have used angle iron would
have been easier
put the axle together with the springs over the axle
figured out that that was way too high
so had to pull the axle out and put the axle over the springs
much better and still nothing drags or hits
putting bedliner on the tub and put the fender flares on
also weld on frame extensions for bumperettes and a rack
Had to move the spare tire mount due to getting larger tires
You attach your lights to the rear of the tub outwards of the tailgate. the tailgate is another
reason I went with the dinoot rather than am M416
the part you cut from the side tub part should not be thrown away. I cut pieces to fit and
epoxied them to the part where the taillights attach for...
I was hoping I could get plates and registration this far along and hauled it to the local MVD office,
but they sent me home with a sheet of what is needed here in AZ and told to come back when I
finished.
I lucked into five (5) new jeep JK rubicon wheels and tires. The bad part is I had to buy all five
and only need two. Since I had already order the axle to fit the tacoma wheels I had to do
some figuring and modifying. This worked since the jeep wheels would not fit the trailer hubs
anyway so...
after cutting and luckily getting it right . I clamped the sides and fenders to check it out
and see what the 16 in tacoma wheels would look like. Used an AT tire since they don't
throw as much mud and roll easier as the large thread tires.
I did order the tub with reinforcement on the front...
You need to cutout the wheelwells on the side panels so made up the cut line
and crossed my fingers. the plans are there just read them a couple of times
and measure two or three times before cutting
built the frame with 2x3x.125 tubing ordered a straight 3,500lb axle from dinoot with no bend
I also planned on carrying a spare under the frame with a toyota spare tire holder. Another
reason for moving the axle forward
