Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I hope you didn't feel that I judged you in any way. I do things that some people feel are strange. Get off of work on a Friday afternoon. Throw gear in a vehicle and disappear for a few days. Drive to Alabama to ride the bike in the Trail of Tears event. Head out to Moab by myself for several...

Tips for Stealth Overnight Parking and Building a Stealth Vehicle

I agree with your plan. Both of my parents died back in the '90s and I decided I should travel. It's hard to stealth camp in a 20', 4X4 motor home but I can usually find an out of the place to park.

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Finally back to some reasonable comments. It's sort of like the motorcycle crowd. Everyone is going to gripe about what ever any body else is riding. The point is that at least you are out riding. Drive whatever vehicle works for you. A note about the Ford 6.0s. My neighbor had an Expedition...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Some people did respond in a well thought out way on this thread and others were just being jerks. My post made it over to other forums so I suppose others are tired of some of these sort of threads as well. Strange, none of the origional post crowd has responed yet. I'm sort of thick skinned so...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Really, people comment on my ability to spend several days working on hand rails or fireplace mantles to get them as close to perfect as I can. I am a very patient person. Sometimes I just get upset about some mindless drivel and I don't know to do an atomic dope slap over the internet. Our...

    NYC to Moab and beyond

It is sort of strange that you were getting grief in Moab. Most of the people know that the $ is from the tourists. I have never had a problem there in the 30 or so years that I have been going there. Then again, the last time I was there I was 6' tall and people would just look at my hands and...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

It has been an interesting thread. I can't decide, to block a few people out or just sit back with a cool one and some popcorn. I do need to laugh at something. Just for the record, I've driven my 3B for 24 years and have never broken anything on a trail. Perhaps all of you should meet up in a...

    Let's see your LJ's!

Don't worry about the wheel color, just go out and use it. Once they are covered in mud the color isn't going to be an issue.

Snow, Moose and a Jeep in the Never Summer Mountains of Colorado.

Walden and Steamboat are interesting places. Steamboat was fun, 40 years ago. too commercial now. Walden is still a outdoor paridise As far as I know, still has it's old ranch vibes. The only place I could find some well made deer hide gloves.

Lockhart Basin North to South - Nissan Frontier

The only real tough spot is the gorge on the North end. One of the canyons we headed had a few large rocks in it. Otherwise, I did the rest in 2WD. I suppose you could do it both ways in a day but it would be a fairly long day depending on where you started from.

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

It can be interesting up there this time of year. I believe I read it is already snowing up there again.

Lockhart Basin North to South - Nissan Frontier

Actually, parts of the trail were easier for him due to the longer wheelbase. The front wheels were over the obstical before the rears got into the holes left by previous drivers. I followed him for most of the trail, sort of surprising how much an unloaded truck will still twist it's frame at...

Willys Wagon in Cabeza Preita NWR

Nice ride and good eport. I almost bought one several years ago but the guy wanted too much money for just a frame and body. We were down there in 1999 and they were warning us about the trafficers then. We had no problems.

Naw, "Boy" took a 1 ton crew cab long bed over the trail. Some turns were a bit tight.

    Post Pic's of your Jeep

Hard to tell where you are. My neighbors have property up there and we've going up there for over 30 years. Snow sort of changes the look of things.

    Butch Cassidy's Hideout...

The rangers called my neighbor so he would be at the widows house when they called. I didn't know they had a full time coroner there in the park. Yes, a long story here as well. and much should be unposted. I'm sorry about what happened to your brother in law but it can be an unsafe sport and I...

Recaps, re-treads or what ever you call them for a JKU

Finally we are back to a rational discussion. I have expressed my opinion and read all those from others. I tire (sorry) of people just whining and insulting each other and actually not adding anything real to the conversation. There is a reason I don't read some of these threads or some forums.

    Butch Cassidy's Hideout...

Yep, I gave up on roping back in 1992 when a friend went down on a fast descent off of of El Capitan. I still have all of his equipment, Just no desire to use it again. It does look like you had a good time.
