    2 Weeks in Colorado

It would be good to see Joe Bonnamasa anywhere. A few other venues I have enjoyed are Mishawauka up the Poudre river about 28 miles west of Ft. Collins. Saw many good bands there over the years, heck, pretty much camped there for a summer. Picked up trash and helped Tex in the kitchen. John...

Starry night in Johnson Valley this weekend....

A friend from CA used to remark about how many stars he could see from a remote pass around here. "Yep, they paid their star tax around here"

All in all, I wish I was there right now. This years plan is to head about 30 miles East of here to the Grasslands for Thanksgiving with our group instad of heading to the Moab area as we have done for many years. I suppose I could head out to my yard with a book and a cocktail and reflect on...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

That looks as bad as when I just was replacing a radio in my Mitsu Fuso. Just remove everything from the passenger side and work over to the left until you get to the radio.

    Trail Damage

Really, the only thing I ever broke on my 3B was a rear axle shaft as I was driving up a frontage road in Avon CO. Not too exicting is it? Breaking the sector shaft on our MB was interesting. I got to run along kicking the front tire to guide it back home as my brother drove. A friend flopped...

    2 Weeks in Colorado

Good for you. I have lived here for 60 years and can't claim to have visited everything around this state. If you really want to hit a good music venue go to Red Rocks Ampatheatre. A fairly awesome natural place to see a show. I saw several Jimmy Buffett shows there as well as the Grateful Dead...

Lockhart Basin North to South - Nissan Frontier

I just tow my Jeep out there with the Mitso Fuso. I dont believe I would want to do the chute on the North end of the Lockhart basin road. Even though we got the F350 crew cab long bed 4X4 over the whole road. It sort of sucked to follow him. I have to give him credit, the trip was his fathers...

    Trail Damage

It's an interesting thought but most of my trail damage was done around fourty years ago and for some reason, I wasn't going to stand around to take a pictre. I have never flopped a Jeep. Nobody wants to see a picture of a couple of rock scrapes on the rear springs of my 3B. About the only other...

    Abbey Country...

Yeah, just go out there. I usually go out a day or two before the rest of the group to reserve a BLM free area. It can get a bit busy on holiday weekends and the better places go quickly. I usually go to the top of a hill with a book and a beer. Read, reflect and enjoy what I observe. It's a...

Lockhart Basin North to South - Nissan Frontier

There is a few trails out there I don't tell people about. The trips we did lately, Lockhart Basin, Elephant Hill to the confluence overlook and Top of the World. We were the only group on the trails that I saw. Fins 'n Things on the other hand...

    Introduction from another tragic

It's sort of like the old line,"You can buy them books and send them to school and what do they do, eat the covers off of the books". The neighbor kid showed up in his F350 crew cab, 4X4 in Utah. Long bed with nothing in it and complained about how it was riding. "Um, how much air in the tires?"...

The neigbor with the CJ7 and another boy with a YJ both did the bedliner stuff. Both are peeling now. One rolled and used brushes and the other sprayed it in. I think a lack of proper prep work in both cases. (I tried to tell them) The person with the CJ7 had the bed in his F350 done by a...

Recaps, re-treads or what ever you call them for a JKU

Let's just say I worked in a recap shop for a few years back when I was young and I learned a bit while I was there. The tread isn't glued on, it is vulcanized to the carcass. Steam and air pressure. Of course, you are entitled to your own opinion, It is a public forum after all.

Recaps, re-treads or what ever you call them for a JKU

Everybody can have their opinion. As said before, I have never had an issue with recaps, only new tires. I have left parts of two "New" out by Grand Junction. I went to the shop that sold me the tires. For some reason they didn't sell that brand anymore. Tire pressure wil play an important role...

Being a grumpy old fart here. DO NOT HAVE CARPET IN A JEEP. I've had Jeeps for something like 47 years and every Jeep that had carpet on the floor had rust issues. My MB, the CJ3B, my neighbors CJ7. As soon as I bought the Commando, I cut the carpet out. Oh, look, just some surface rust that I...

Recaps, re-treads or what ever you call them for a JKU

We ran recapped Michlins on the Suburban for many years, XZ tread. We also hand picked the carcass and did the recap job ourselves. We capped some of them up to four times. I have lost more treads off of "new" tires than any recap. I have never lost a cap tread. We recapped anything from a...
