    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

That Powerwerx cable uses the red/black Anderson connector which isn’t compatible with the PLB40. I’ll just make my own ... no big deal, but odd that Dometic doesn’t offer one. Thanks.

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Thanks for the tip on checking the polarity of the Andersons. I searched several places, couldn’t find any info. I’m capable of making my own harness but hoped to avoid it. I also might use an MC4 to female cigarette lighter cable, of which I found one, though I was hoping to avoid extra...

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

It looks nice but $715 for 60W!! I know Made in US, rolls up small and other nice features, but that’s hard to swallow ... especially for something I might leave out at a campsite unattended. Are you using it with a PLB battery?

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

I asked this another thread, but other than making your own, is there a readily available MC4 to Anderson SB50 cable to connect the solar panel to the PLB40? Thanks.

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

I just ordered a PLB40 along with a fridge, my first time moving away from cooler + ice. I know it’s expensive but Cyber Monday took a bit of the sting off, and I like the portability, built in solar controller and DC-DC Charger etc. I’d eventually like to add solar, and in the spirit of “bought...

1st time truck owner (soon to be) and just discovered Overlanding, need help.

Lots of good advice here, but I think @Teri Mitti you should define what you mean by “overlanding”. Are you planning to travel around the world, or explore the mountains, deserts, and forests of the US on rough dirt roads, camping in dispersed areas? I do a bit of the latter in a stock Tacoma...

GrandiOdyssey: Circumnavigating the Globe in a '19 Tacoma Build Thread

@GrandiOdyssey are you in Santa Cruz? I’ll have to keep an eye out for your truck. I’ve seen a white 3rd gen with a FlipPac on the far west side, but don’t see too many FWC Tacos around town.

New shoes for my Taco...Need recommendations

Looks like you’ve made a decision but I don’t see how the pulling has anything to do with the E rating. For what it’s worth, I have E rated LT265/75-16 KO2’s on my Tacoma, about 20K on them now, and didn’t notice any difference in steering, directional stability, roundness/balance, or general...

    Hitch mounted bike racks

@DaveInDenver thanks for the explanation. With our stock Tacoma bumper and hitch one of the nice things about 1Up compared to most hitch racks is that the dimensions allow the tailgate to drop completely and clear the rack when it’s horizontal, with no bikes, and clear the rack and our two...

    Let's talk frying pans

Question on cast iron sizing ... is a 10" pan 10' diameter at the top, or at the bottom? Seems like with tapered sides there's a 2" difference so its hard to know what's what. Thanks.

    Hitch mounted bike racks

Why isn’t your 1Up rack not inserted further? On both my Tacoma (factory receiver) and our VW with a Torklift EcoHitch, our 2” two tray SD rack goes pretty much all the way in and still clears the tailgate or bumper when folded up. That does reduce the moment arm. As for your strength of...

    Kenda Klever R/T

Looks like they have an LT265/75-16 in Load Range C which looks good for Tacoma’s that don’t have lifts or are regeared.

Transit AWD vs Express AWD vs Transit Quigley: which one for me?

Another factor: a guy I know recently got a Quigley Transit. I believe he said lead time was 10 months. I don’t know what the wait will be for the new AWD van, but probably less, if you’re in a hurry.

Saga of Stanley Fab - Builds of sorts!

Hah, I saw it at Home Depot today, and I thought, I've seen that truck before, on ExPo. It looks nice ... I like the rear bumper. Though the rear shock mounts make it a little less practical for those HD runs.

1st Gen Tundra vs. 80 Series Land Cruiser

I had a triple-locked 80 for many years, starting when there was no aftermarket support excpet expensive stuff from Australia. Reliable, very effective offroad (1st 80 on the Rubicon in ‘97, went back with another 80 in ‘98). Sold it 10 years ago and miss it. Since then I’ve had a T100, and now...

SOLD: SnoMaster 40L Classic Series Fridge

Hi, I’m local, but wanted to confirm that the height is indeed 20.5” as shown on their website. If so, then it looks like it won’t fit under the tonneau in the bed of my Tacoma. Is that correct? Seems like similar capacity Doemtic and ARB aren’t as tall. Thanks.

MTB vs Touring for Eastern US

Can’t give you much advice ... we live in the West and ride short travel FS 29-ers, mostly on singletrack, but count me in as another guy whose wife continues to push and inspire me after 30+ years, from our first ride together on rigid bikes in 1988 (her way out in front), to a 4 day White Rim...

    fastening to aluminum square tubing

The torque for a #8 fastener is so low that just a few variables can throw things off, so honestly, just snuged up is probably the best engineering answer. As for for how many fasteners or distance between, that is easier to calculate but depends on the magnitude and direction of the load, as...

AdventureTaco - turbodb's build and adventures

When I installed a Ram mount on the grab handle of my T100 a few years back, I don’t recall having too much difficulty with the screw removal. But when it was all done, no combination of Ram socket arms and swivel arms would position the phone in a location that was easy to see, oriented...
