Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon Setups

Hi, I currently have a DCSB Tacoma, but thinking about moving to a 6’ bed and adding a shell or possibly pop up to have inclement weather camping shelter rather than use our ground tent. May just stick with another Taco, but intrigued by the Duramax, for better torque curve and mpg than my 3.5...

Let's Talk Backseats- the main 3

I’m ok with my Tacoma double cab back seats but the flip-forward seat cushion does take up space and blocks floor storage also. It’s easy to remove (two bolts per side)so I sometimes remove just the cushions, or even just one cushion, for more volume; two more bolts and each seat back is out...

Has anyone bought or ordered a M-project from 4 wheel camper?

Hi @kodiak-black I’m also in Santa Cruz, and saw one of the protos on a Taco on the Westside last summer. Also, Matt from Adventure Sports Journal here has one on an 8’ bed Ram truck. Been thinking about it, but to me the headroom over the sleeping platform in FWC’s seems constrictive.

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

Despite the usual forum BS I’ve actually been finding this thread interesting. I’m a mostly happy 3rd gen Tacoma owner, DCSB, but hankering for a longer bed to sleep in when weather or other conditions make ground tenting a hassle. In my town even the “shorter” Taco can be a challenge in tight...

2021 F150 Spy shots. Is Ford going back to '09-'14?

Mountain bikers who use tailgate pads would rather see a slightly lower camera lens, so the padding on top doesn’t obscure it. Of course we all drive Tacoma’s anyway, so Ford probably doesn’t care. :)

2001 Toyota Tundra 4x4 with 2012 Four Wheel Camper Kestrel (Hawk)

The CL ad is gone, is this rig sold? Edit: never mind, I found it.

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Thanks. How about sleeping in back with the cargo covers in place (no shell or SofTopper) but mid gate removed? Feet down at the tailgate.

What can you tell me about the Chevy Avalanche?

Couple of questions: - How easy is it to remove the tonneau cover completely, for hauling large loads without having to fold it up? - With a shell or Softopper mounted up, is it realistic to fold down the midgate and use it as an SUV? Any issues with leaks, road or wind noise, etc?

Need help deciding, Why a Tacoma over a full size truck?

Lots of good advice here. I have a DCSB Tacoma and often find the 5’ bed too small. On the other hand, it’s already about 6” too long to fit in my driveway, and doesn’t always fit easily in parking spots in my urban neighborhood. However, my friend’s F150 SuperCab with 6.5’ bed seems huge by...

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

So I finally took a trip with my PLB40 and CFX35 fridge. Connected them as @67cj5 wrote above, fridge on a platform behind the driver’s seat and battery on the floor. The small size of the PLB is really convenient in my Tacoma. Three days camping in Death Valley without starting the truck, yeah...

Strider Colorado ZR2 Duramax Explorer Build and Trips

@transalper If you don’t mind my asking, how has the reliability of your truck been? I have a short bed Tacoma, 3rd gen with 3.5V6 and it’s not a great powertrain but has been a very reliable truck over 70K miles. But I really want/need a longer bed, and pricing on 2.8 Duramax crew cab long beds...

    Ursa mini Element $12k

My sister owned an automatic AWD Element for almost 300K miles with no issues, certainly no transmission problems. Sample of one, but she loved it, but at that point decided she needed a newer car and better mpg so replaced it with a low-mileage AWD Hybrid Highlander.

Four Wheel Camper - A Review

Not a great picture, it’s my friend’s truck.

    thoughts on full size

My DCSB Tacoma barely fits in my driveway, or perhaps barely doesn’t fit even if the front license plate screw heads are touching the garage door, and doesn’t fit in the garage. A DCLB is out of the question. But I like the idea of borrowing the F150. Gotta figure out a way to make it good for...

2021 Tahoe- Interesting but not sold on it

Not that many years ago lots of fire departments, forestry and public works agencies etc bought these as work trucks in 3/4 ton form with vinyl bench seats etc. I guess that market has gone to HD crew cab pickups, but I’d still think that GM could sell quite a few to those fleet customers, and a...

    thoughts on full size

I have driven a 3rd Gen V6 Tacoma for the past 65K miles. Before that I had a 3.4V6 T100, and before that an FZJ80 Land Cruiser and, well, a bunch of vehicles over the last 45 years but never a full size truck. Yesterday I drove my friend’s 2018 F150 with the 5.0 V8 about 20 miles mixed freeway...

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

So I received my Dometic CFX 35 and my PLB40. I precooled the fridge to 37°F and charged the battery on AC, then plugged the fridge into the PLB. After 24 hours, at an ambient high 50’s to low 60’s F, the PLB has over 70% charge remaining. So about 3+ days battery life, , this with a mostly...

Can I connect the new Dometic PLB40 to a YellowTop?

Cigarette lighter connectors aren’t great for many reasons, but I suspect a bigger problem with using your rear lighter circuit, even if you replace the connector, will be wire gauge. I think most Toyota outlets use 18 ga or thinner wire, and charging the PLB with that wire over the length of...

    Dometic PLB40 Reviews

Thanks, that’s actually easier and perhaps even cheaper than making my own.And with 10 gauge I’d probably go longer than 1 foot. Thanks again for checking this out!
