WTB: Dome light switch for 95 RRC

It might be the same part as for a Discovery I, since the 95 RRC has a lot of DI parts in it.

    Ham I am

I am studying for the extra, too. I find listening to the ham radio podclass is very helpful, although they have not yet finished the extra level yet. http://hamradioclass.com/shownotes/category/extra/

Wanted: A Series truck right front halfshaft

I need a right front halfshaft for my IIA. I am in the process of reassembling mine, and just noticed that the splines are twisted at the differential end.

    The original expedition vehicle...

I have a buddy who recently spent $10k on a side-by-side quad, and the next day he saw one of the old CJs for sale for half the price and in great condition. He bought the CJ and returned the quad.

    2M Antenna Recommendations?

If I mount my 2m antenna directly through my roof, and then I add a metal roof rack such that the antenna sticks up right next to it, how much will the roof rack crossbars interfere with the signal? The upper bar will be about 8 inches above the roof level. Would I be better off mounting the...

    Ham I am

Thanks all. I think if I were an electrical engineer instead of a mechanical engineer, I would have passed the Extra. As it was, stuff I know about vibration analysis helped me a lot. I am going around to local hams and checking out their gear to see what I like. I just learned about one...

    Ham I am

Tonight I passed the Technician test, so I took the General test and passed that too. :victory:They asked if I wanted to take the Extra, but I said I had not studied. I came home and took a practice Extra test online and got a 66%, so I guess I wasn't ready, but hmm, a little studying, and I...

Morse code speed - learned something new about my Dad

I am reading all this stuff about Morse code while studying for my Amateur radio exam. I knew my Dad was a Morse code operator when he was in the Marine Corps in the early 1960s. I didn't know he was in Intelligence and transcribing Soviet communications: "My best was about 60 words a minute...

    HAM radio/amateur radio FAQ

Wish me luck. I am scheduled to take the test on Thursday. I have found the info in this section very helpful. I downloaded the ham radio podcast to my MP3 player and have been listening to it during my commute. It has really helped to cement the knowledge in the books. I have also been...

ok to come to a Rover rally in a Toyota?

Owning a Land Rover, at least in North America, is more of a state of mind, and I usually have a good time with fellow Rover owners. many Toyota owners have a similar outlook, and thus we enjoy their company, too. Personally, the only reason I would turn a non-LRO away form a Land Rover...

    Critical Spares List: Discovery I

One thing I have not seen on the list is the ignition module, which is only on the earlier distributor equipped models. It is a tiny box (like 1.5x1.5x0.25") that bolts to the side of the distributor. These sometimes fail intermittently, especially in hot weather, and sometimes fail totally...

Sighting of an AT in AZ

Today on westbound I-10 somewhere between Tucson and Phoenix I saw a blue Land Rover Discovery (I think it was a II) towing an Adventure Trailer that was painted in the same darker shade of blue. Nice looking combo!

    budget performance cars

My Dad bought a BMW Z3 about 5 years ago for $9,900. It is the version a step below the M version. It is an absolute blast to drive on the twisty back roads of Virginia, and it is a lot better looking than the Z4.
