    Campfire container for restricted areas

If you have a buddy with a CNC plasma cutter, these are awesome. I've made a dozen of these for buddys. I found the drawing on etsy. Uses 1/4" which is heavy buy will last forever. This week I made one out of 3/16", much lighter. Grill can be customized, arms can be swords, guns, fishing poles...

What are your Overland equipment must haves?

I carry a hi-lift. Have for 20yrs. I have used it twice to change tires on my vehicle(s). However I use it regularly on others rigs. I carry a readywelder too. Many times I have straightened steering links with MY hi-lift and re-welded or plated with some angle iron. It's a tool. Tire repair...

    Wired winch remote recommendations

You can hard wire a switch into your cab, actually 2. The first to power the second on-off-on switch. You can still plug in the remote for use outside vehicle. The two red switches on the left side of panel handle the winch work, closest to driver

    True Trac vs Open Diff

Is there a reason why a switchable locker is not on your list? I did read your original post and understand this may be unwanted info. If you were to break a rear driveline or break a yoke, etc.., a front locker would still give you two wheels to the ground. And you would not feel anything...

How do you keep your winch secure?

The tension is sufficient enough to keep the free spool lever locked tight. With leverage like a long screwdriver it might be possible to unlock but it would require a lot of effort. I have a dash mounted switch and just a bump will loosen all.

How do you keep your winch secure?

I run synthetic line. As long as it's tight, no one can really move it. A sharp knife would surrender it quick.

12 Volt On-Board Air Compressors What's Out There?

I'll second that. Mine puts out 4cfm all day. I use a dot big rig air tank remote mounted between frame and trans. Probably a 2gal tank. Plenty of air for the lockers and tires. Can even run some tools. lower right is air pressure: switch on dash: ports front and back:

    Photography storage solution

Cost of equipment: then and now (CB, Ham, etc.) what did you pay?

I got my ticket back in '95, but my Grandfather had been dumping cash into gear way before me. I still have my second radio, a Standard tri-band C5900-DA(6m, 2m and 440) it is a tank. I paid $600-ish back then. I just bought a Yaesu FTM-400DXR for less than that, it does way more than the...

    Is Unlocking Legal?

OP, your radio is awesome! The modification is a fairly straight forward one, which does void your warranty unless you have a MARS cert. I've done three so far, all went well. I had no problem transferring from a sd card after mod. Do back-up if you have lots of mem and custom settings.. The mod...

    Homemade Roofracks.

I built the rack a few years ago but added the solar panel this summer. works great. I need to come up with a way to connect it via a plug but for now I pug it directly to the power port/cig lighter. It's a flexible 70w panel with a very small MPPT controller on a slide out. When driving and off...

Wiring an alternator on vintage vehicle

In my research on the "one wire" setup, I found two possible cons. One was if it sat on the shelf too long, it may need to be re-excited before being shipped. If it was not, the end user might end up with a "bad" alternator per se. The second is a known issue but not really a con in my...
