Running a tri band 6m/2m/440cm radio and a cobra CB. The am/fm is a sony marine with usb, nice radio
Ended up with a top loaded firestick instead of the bottom loaded wilson
Here is the console finished:
Nuvi 680, nearly as old as the CJ it is in LOL. Mounted to glass via suction. Super durable, it has been all over the world and in some bad weather too.
We carry a MAx ax and a shovel using quick fists to hold them. I also have a ax and long prybar our bedroom, we live in so cal, it shakes a bunch. These tools could prove useful someday
Bumper fitting:
build layout:
Also good place for antennae:
A hack saw, either full size or the mini hand size and a few types of blades
Silicone/rescue tape
An electric fuel pump, universal
cordless drill and essentials, charger if you have an inverter
A small compressor is nice to have
one of these by vise-grip/irwin...
The factor thimble looks really cool but it is an extra (or double) link in the recovery chain so to speak. The thimble that is pinned behind it can do the same thing and no extra parts to break. I like the traditional hook w/lock clip or the self locking type shown earlier in thread
"Thanks for the link......I have not heard of YOKE brand, are they good?
3/8" Half Link Hook is $45 and is rated for 28,000 lbs
What does the 3/8" measurement mean? The size of the pin?"
I think it is the size of the cable it is rated for. It's American made and feels solid. Best part is it...
I am running 4 marinco 12v outlets with good luck. Two on my dash and two on the Tuffy console for backseat use (five year old rides back there, needs more power than me LOL). Fronts are fused 20amp and backs are 10amp.
I am running this guy:
It's a YOKE brand. I am using it on 3/8"rope
Got it here:

I asked for a removable hook and he sent the one pictured but he does not show it on his site, may have to request it.
Ok guys, I'm new here. I read most of the thread and saw some typical sarcasm and joking. Whats the proper way to discuss and give opinion here?
Thanks,
WSS
Our rig has both CB and ham. Both radios are modified to save your life if necessary. The ham radio has expanded tx capabilities and can do the FRS and red/green/blue dot freqs. KInda nice to have, GO prepared.

Here are my old school radios in a new (ish) Tuffy console:
It also has a master (starter) kill switch. With the lock, I feel comfortable leaving out once in a while.
Our '72 CJ5 on the trail. Just finished her and now to have fun! The previous owner did the drivetain very well, so we took a step futher to make it a little more expedition style.
