    Welder,

It seems the general consensus in this thread is .250" max welds. Then a welder rated for .250 will be light. A welder rated for .375" would work better for you. Yes multi pass is possible but a single, well laid pass will be easier and look better for the casual welder. Consider that a Blue...

    Welder,

Near 100 percent true. I have three dimension 652's running S-64's (one has a D-64 w .045 and 1/16) pushing 100lbs of 1/16 solid wire all day (each). We mix our own gas and burn near 80 percent duty cycle. It will idle when a drum needs changing or a tip changed/cleaned. Running tweco tam guns...

Question about amp draws on air compressors

My extremaire is fused with a 15 amp circuit breaker. Never popped yet. I am running a 110amp late delco alt. and have a thumb throttle on the gear shift. when filling tires or running air tools, I will set the rpms around 1k and works great. The extremaire is 100% duty cycle. I have air lockers...

12V Compressor vs HP Air Tanks - Pros & Cons?

I run an extremeaire 4cfm 12v system. I put a big rig air tank under the tub, between the frame and trans. fits nice and is up hi. About 4.5gals. I used 3/8" push lock nylon tube for the whole plumbing except right at the cylinder output, which I did steel braid to the distribution manifold. The...

What recovery tools would you never go without?

Anyone carry an inverter? I am looking into a small 1k watts or so inverter that can charge batts and power some small 110vac electronics. When the OP asked what tool, how far out and for how long are we going? WSS

    Homemade Roofracks.

I agree, just checked the "manage" attachments in the "go advanced" section and CAD, DXF or even DWG are not valid for posting. I have a bunch of 2D DXF's for home made/hand made stuff. I use a CNC plasma to do the 2D stuff.

Trash hauling without an exterior tire carrier?

^^Thats a great idea^^ Kinda like carrying photography equipment in a diaper bag. Fool the thieves with a decoy LOL. Imagine the look on a thieves face when he gets it home and pops it open.

    On board fire supression

Another reason I went with AFFF, it is about like soap when all said and done, cleans with water. Halon is dangerous in the lungs. A closed cockpit vehicle would probably be OK, but an open cab would not. Also, halon is a gas, one shot. Once it is evaporated or blown away, it has no...

    On board fire supression

I installed a "firecharger" AFFF suppression system in January. Great piece of mind. Seems like a well made and thought out product: One nozzle over gas tank:

Show me your homemade bumper swing outs!

Thanks guys! The handle is a 1/2" x 2-1/2" socket head bolt with a 6" long by 1" dia bar welded to it. Locks up tight with no rattles or risk of opening. I had looked at many types but this was in the kit I linked to and it works great. The bumper is heavy and I had to extend it out almost...

The "Well isn't that Clever" Thread

I posted a link to some at the bottom of my post, sorry, should have been in front of pics. It is a special paper that can be printed in full color on a inkjet printer and then you seal the ink by clear coating the paper. Then you soak in water.

Water slide decals. in the inkjet flavor. Print your art and clearcoat with rattle cans and then cut out and soak in water until back "slides" off, you have a nice custom sticker or legend Got em here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-sheets-CLEAR-INKJET-waterslide-decal-paper-/390766737858

    Homemade Roofracks.

Yes, I cut them out of 12ga sheet. I cut the slots/holes for weight reduction. The middle risers have tabbed slots running horizontal for the light tabs to lock into, makes alignment easy and dead on. I have the dxf files if anyone needs them. I may be able to post them here. These were cut on...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Just built this to fit on the 2" roll bar using 2" split shaft clamps, the mounts are cut to leave clearance for the safari top to still fit (see last pic detail). I have it painted now. The tube is .049" 1" sq tube, very light and feels strong. I put four light tabs (2 front, 2 rear) on it as...

    On Board Welders?

I redid my system last November to include dual batts, isolator, QC jumpers and a readywelder. The system works great. I get 13.8v out of the NOCO isolator and I had a custom 1 wire 100amp alternator built to accommodate. I have plans to add solar and a sine convertor later this spring. Here are...
