FG 140 4x4 Transmission Mod for Higher Top Speed?

Brownie Box. Funny thing is, I'm regearing lower for better slow speed torque. I'm willing to deal with 65-70mph top speed, even on our high speed freeways here. ETA: Ok, too hot to work in the sun, so it's inside for now. Anyway, Spicer, Eaton, etc offer various solutions for this. Older...

    DUAL Axle trailer

Any more developments? I'm actually looking at the same issue - but for me the trailer will be hauling a small truck, canoe/kayak, and extra supplies like fuel/water/etc. No hard trails are foreseen, primary use will be tarmac and decent dirt roads.

Day One...not that this is going to go fast, or anything

Oh yeah, will do updates for sure. Once we're out there actively exploring and getting into trouble I might just start another thread. Avatar? Yeah, that's a gonna change. Reminds me I need to get the Cummins Suburban advertised and on the market too....yet another thing to do, yay.

Day One...not that this is going to go fast, or anything

Quick update: Well, the day to deliver the chassis to EC is almost upon us. I'll be driving up to Oregon this Sunday, stopping by EC to coordinate, then off to Northwest Advanced Welding in Bend to remove the flatbed. That's going to be turned into a custom twin axle walking beam dump trailer...

Is that truck actually tagged as an FG140, or is it an FGB87? Just curious, I have a 2012 also.

    Toyo 285/70/R19.5 M608z

Wow, Steve....what's the production date on those? I've got around 20,000 miles on mine, seem to be wearing well except for the outside front shoulder on the driver side. I need to get a rotation and alignment, but it's also due to the extra loading. ATW springs, and the driver side spring is...

Anyone running the Timbren axle-less units as tandems?

OK, I called Timbren, and as you mention, meental - very helpful. The axle-less units can be run as tandem setups. The difference between the 3500HD and the 5200 units is only the rubber spring - the 3500HD uses the heavier frame of the 5200, with the lower weight rating springs. Given that...

Are Iveco Replacing Mitsi And Isuzu?

I guess for certain needs they're a better choice than a FUSO or Isuzu, but I really value a full forward cab position. The ride difference once you upgrade to either of the commonly available aftermarket suspensions (ATW or EC) is terrific. Granted I don't have many hours of seat time in either...

I've got a local Fuso service center a few miles from me.

Anyone running the Timbren axle-less units as tandems?

Yep, I saw the silent ride, but it's just a traveling beam, with axles, not like the axle-less units. (unless I've completely missed seeing an axle-less tandem on their sales site?) I'm trying to lose the axle tubes entirely and keep a clear center tunnel.

Anyone running the Timbren axle-less units as tandems?

I've got a bed I'm pulling off the FG, and I'm thinking of converting it into a trailer. Simple project, just a ladder frame with the same width and rail dimensions as the FG, and then slide the bed off the FG frame onto the trailer, bolt it on, done. Except for those things called wheels etc...

    2012+ Fuso FG Recent Recalls

The trans re-flash is at least a couple of years old. Trans line is a year or so old, current recall campaign is for the fuel line, and the "free oil change for spring" hehe.

Help - need transmission and transfer case for 2004 fg fuso

I seem to remember a place called Busbee's(?) in the U.S. that seemed to salvage quite a few FG's. You might also try on some of the pro landscaping forums, those guys use FG's also.

Anyone have a source for a rock guard for the windshield? (FUSO FG 2007)

Dang, Dave, that's quite a bit less expensive than I thought. I still have to get to Aluminess, but probably won't make it this week. Actually, let me shoot them an email with some images - I'll bet they can come up with a quote. I don't know if I'd go for the roofrack.com.au units in the...

Anyone have a source for a rock guard for the windshield? (FUSO FG 2007)

45 - Yep, that's the basic design. dlh - I've thought about doing that clearplex, but the thing that concerns me is how it reacts to wear from the wipers. It's gotta be softer stuff than the glass...I'm thinking that it'll more than likely start to loose some transparency after getting wiper...

Anyone have a source for a rock guard for the windshield? (FUSO FG 2007)

Will do. Only issue to deal with is how are you going to attach it? I'm set up to attach to the A pillar guards, so I've got it easy, I'll just use their clamps to get it on and off. Or if you have another design in mind, I could always let them use my cab as a template. I think there wasn't...
