Subbing to this thread, I'd like to learn more about that module, and what the issues are. Once my truck is out of warranty, I might be interested enough to drop one in. Oh, and I can verify that the FUSO bus language can't be read by a regular OBDII module.

Interesting, I haven't heard about that. I do know that there are some mods for colder weather, such as heaters to keep the DEF fluid enough. My truck was originally a plow truck in Colorado, only has the heated mirrors and a few heat pads on the engine oil pan and transmission. But then...

Hmmm...what wheels are you using? The 24 bolt HMMWV wheels are relatively inexpensive, if you want to either recenter them, or run an adaptor.

I think much of that answer will depend on your area. For us, it's worthwhile to actually relocate out of California a bit sooner than we thought we would. The offset from sales tax fees, insurance and other costs will pay for a nice little plot of land that I'll be modifying into an RV camping...

Yep, I'll be there again. Not with FG though, and I'll more than likely be camping on the Westerly ridge (I learned my lesson last year) and riding a small motorcycle back and forth. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Haven't seen that G-Scan reader, interesting. Might be worthwhile looking into that system. I can definitely say that the earlier MUTS-III systems don't work on the later trucks, no matter what the sellers say. Even for the earlier trucks, the MUTS system PC needs some tweaking to run the SW...

the MUTS is going to be one of the things in the toolbox. As you say, if you're planning on heading up to the Far North...pack well. 2012's can access OBD codes (at least some), but I'm pretty sure that you're not able to erase all fault codes, especially ones that'll cause limp mode. For those...

True, but it's also nice to be able to traverse large swaths of land at a reasonably high speed, if needed. I topped out at 84mph when I brought my truck back from Arizona, but I decided a lower gear set was a good idea when running at 3/4 GVW or so. No more sports mode when I get the build...
