So you then understand that in order to gain mechanical advantage there has to be a pulley moving in the direction of the load within the system.
The video posted has two pulleys and it shows a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage he even explains that the fixed pulley is only for change of Direction...
Let's keep it simple and go step by step.
We agree that the pulley has to be moving within the system or on the load to game mechanical advantage.
If that is the case can the second picture in the Jeep tree diagram where it shows the cable going from the winch on the Jeep to a pulley on the...
Just think about it. The cable cannot change length, it's not possible. The only thing that moves or changes is the positions of the pulleys. In order for the pullies to change position they have to move and in order for them to move they had to be located on the load which is moving or within...
Is there or is there not a pulley moving within each one of these systems that gains mechanical advantage? When I say moving I don't mean rotating, I mean moving in the direction of the load.
It is not the Rope moving around the pulleys that causes mechanical advantage. It is the distance the rope moves between pulleys that causes mechanical advantage.
when you have more or less winch wrapping around the drum it is like a gear. different size gears spin at different rate. The same is true if the pulley MOVES with in the system.
I initially though I was going to be wrong until I tested it.
Why can't somebody else to the same to either...
Trolling??
The pulley has to move, therefore it has to be on the load or within the system. If the pulley stays in one place the cable will move the same distance on each side. The anchor point and that pulley are stationary in my set up. The pulley moving is the key.
Prove me wrong.
1 foot mark for tire
2 foot mark for cable
cable from winch back to Jeep
cable moved on foot
Tire moved one foot
cable moved 1 foot, tire moved one foot 1:1 mechanical advantage.
I really don't care if I am wrong or right, I just want to know. After watching the video I thought I was wrong. After setting it up and doing it I saw something else.
I am encouraging anybody here to set it up for themselves and post the results. I will take you less than 10 minutes.
I...
