If you are referring to the RTX2000 AC it is still not working. I might try and give the fuses another yank, I had an electronics repair shop tell me they don't think they are soldered in (I have not pulled the board as it involves a bit of work). I do know I do not see a fuse holder so if it...
A quick travel update, we have ended up heading to the Baja. Plan is to get to the remote areas as quickly as possible and just hang out there until this craziness with the Corona virus settles down. We are currently in San Felipe after a long drive from Joshua Tree NP. Plan is tomorrow to...
We would be interested in the details on the pulley block. We use a small electric winch (we might want to upsize), and carry a spare but the info would be good. One thing though I like about the winch is it is a one person job due to the clutch in the winch. Stand back with the remote until the...
Well, I dug into the Dometic RTX2000 rooftop AC and why it is not functioning. After removing the interior trim I see that they nicely soldered 2 20 amp fuses directly to the circuit board. Not sure why but those fuses are testing bad (we had a fused power feed to the board). Now trying to get a...
With our 1120 AF my original goal was $100k for the completed build. We needed to DIY most of the build to get near this number. We are close, maybe just slightly over the 100k mark now. You know, another interesting option is to buy Joe917's truck, ready right now and a whole lot less work. I...
Well, the new springs are IN! Things went fairly smoothly but we did run into a speed bump. Any concerns about the difference in stack height can be laid to rest, we actually had to remove the factory 3" spacer block and replace it with a 1". This was to get the ride height within 2" of the...
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately a broken leaf would stop us. I took the chance and got parabolic springs, so will be pretty rare. They do look very robust though. I also got new bolts, bushings and u bolts. The shackle plates will be reused but they are pretty simple flat plate so likely easy...
Well maybe, I really like the looks of the cu-434 and I really have no prior RV experience with other ranges. I do have experience though with a marine Seaward Princess Euro model (no longer made) that we really liked aboard our sailboat. I looked into a marine range and the problem is they are...
Well the springs arrived! And at first glance they look really nice. Previously a question was asked about the reduced stack height may require spacing blocks. After seeing the springs in person the new springs are actually about 1" thicker than the original main spring pack (minus the helpers)...
Nope wasn't us, but we will be in Tuscon in about a week and you would be welcome to check out the truck. Hopefully it will be sporting the new leaf springs. We will be visiting an old high school/college friend of ours there, which should be fun. Feel free to pm me here (or if you want a more...
Brief update, the springs have cleared customs and have been picked up by the trucking company. Still awaiting a delivery date. In the meantime we have done a couple of projects, one of them is finally a "porch" light so I do not need to grill with a headlight on.
The next project made me think...
Well dang, thanks for the first hand experience. What problem did you run into that required a tow? Knock on wood, our initial question is still hypothetical.
Hey Bill, the new halogen replacements are far better than what came on the truck but I would be very interested if you try those LED ones out on how they work out. I do see in the specs that accept 24v (except for the daytime running lights) so that is a plus.
I am looking at doing this on our MB 1120 AF with the OM366LA compressor. I was thinking an outlet at each tire would be nice to be able to inflate/deflate 4 tires simultaneously. Has anyone done this and if so what components did you use. Oh, we are running our tires at 95psi on the highway so...
We are now in El Paso and have met with Scott at Truck Enterprises. They really seem to look like a top end shop and are pretty accommodating with the timing so I think we may have gotten lucky finding them. The springs landed in Houston yesterday and now we are awaiting the truck shipment. Plan...
Will try and do that. The company doing the work may limit my time in the garage due to insurance. I may try and drop the storage boxes outside of their property as they have said more than a day to do the work, and we live in the truck. The springs arrived in Houston, now just need to wait for...
I also want to add that the smoke is only when it is cold out (say close to freezing). From what I have seen online I think this is normal for these trucks? As far as I have been able to figure out these trucks do not have what I would say is a typical American coolant tank with the hot/cold...
