We very well may end up getting rid of the Renogy, specs look good on paper but has a couple major flaws that really bug me.
Projects roll on, got the sand tracks mounted (required custom stainless brackets that are bonded/bolted to the rear wall which has embedded steel straps), entry grab...
Ok, I think I figured this out. I am not an electrician but I think this is pretty simple. From the diagram it looks like the 12v + that is the "Power" #2, when the switch is in the on position the black "ON Signal" wire gets the 12v +. The brown ground is used solely for the light in the switch.
Hello, I am getting close to finishing my DIY Webasto furnace install. I say DIY because I bought the standard diesel truck coolant heater and have collected the parts needed. I have pretty much everything installed and am now wiring. Our heater came with a simple 3 wire lit toggle switch for...
On our sailboat we had a Xantrex Freedom 15 from years ago. Although it was a modified sine wave inverter/charger the idle current was also negligible. Guess I was lulled into not checking the idle current of the Renogy.
I agree about the Amazon (and other retailer stuff). Plan is to slowly head west stopping for a bit in Texas (Big Bend NP) and relax a bit and do some hiking. We still have a bit of a large project todo before heading south of the border. We need to replace the rear leaf springs, they are just...
Been hard at work trying to get some of the finishing touches completed along with systems work. The dinette table is now complete and bolted in. It is birds eye maple with walnut ends. We used table top epoxy on it. The second pic is a needlepoint that my mom gave us a few years ago. It used to...
Rear Axle Ratio 43:10
5 speed gear box
After a quick look around the EPC this truck is setup pretty much like ours. Same axle ratio, gearbox and engine. It looks like it has a PTO also. With the larger tires we cruise at 55mph at 2300rpm. There is 1 faster axle but not sure how common they...
Hey Jean Pierre, I have the EPC. If you send me the VIN I can look up what you might want to know about the truck. Or, if you want you and buy the EPC on Ebay for pretty cheap. It is an electronic download and takes a while as it is huge. Pretty sure it is a pirated version but it works. I have...
This is a hypothetical question about towing our truck. If someday down the road we need a tow would we need to remove the drive shaft to protect the transmission? On our transfer case we have a PTO and on the high/low range switch there is a "neutral". My guess is when you want the PTO you...
Check out the Everlanders on Youtube, they started with an older F550 and built a custom subframe/composite habitat. From the looks of the video that did a nice job. I have also contacted them via email about our truck build and they have responded right away, nice people.
Thanks for that, that task is on my TODO list (which seems to be getting longer and not shorter). I like the Everlander's videos and have watched them all. One thing I would add it we also have the MaxxShade. Although not a robust bit it does reduced the condensation that occurs. Tried both...
Our layout is very similar to what you have so far. The 2 differences are our rear bed is fixed and has toy storage beneath and no pass thru (and the entry door is opposite as we are in North America). So far we have been pretty happy with the layout. We have 2 skylights, rooftop AC, and MaxxFan...
Well replacing the headlights turned out to be a typical simple project. A few days ago I pulled out the one that was burned out, got the numbers off it and ordered a pair for replacement. The pair came in, I replaced the burned out one and then removed the other side (higher output). Well...
Thanks again for some great info. I had thought I had read somewhere that our box had synchros but was unsure. Definitely does not shift like my old Chevy S10 did. I have adopted the couple second pause between gears but was worried that there was something up in the box. Now hearing that it is...
I agree in the roof rack, ours is on hold for a bit to let the bank account recover. I wanted to make sure that at least a couple of the lights I get could be used in traffic and not blind people. The others I want for more remote driving and want it to be like daylight.
And yup, love the air...
Thanks Sitec, I am thinking that is good advice. We also still have a PTO, it was for the large fire pump that was mounted aft. Our truck currently has a single center mounted tow point on the Original MB bumper and 2 points that I had the welder build into the rear tire/motorcycle rack. The 25k...
Thanks guys, yes my mom is ok (well as ok as you could hope). Pretty rough for her as my dad had Parkinson's and she took care of him till a few weeks before he passed. Luckily she has some really nice neighbors who are good friends. They were married for 54 years. Hoping she takes up with...
Can't believe my last post was on the 1st. The main reason for the rush trip to Florida was that my father was very ill and sadly he passed away on the 11th. He is the one that taught me how to work with tools. In a way it was for the best as his quality of life was very poor, but is still hard...
