    Optima problems??

I've had Optima red tops in my 12V BJ70 for 2.5 years now (I think). No problems. I have heard a few first hand problems with Optimas and 24V Cruisers though. My new BJ74 came with 2 new Red Tops, so I'll be keeping a close eye on them. I'll run a Solar Converter 24-12V converter that also load...

    1983 FJ45 Troop Carrier Buildup

Re: BJ70 That was the biggest "problem" getting used to my RHD BJ74 - for about a week I'd go to signal and flip the windshield wipers on instead. Shifting's no problem. Actually, RHD is no problem. :smiley_drive: See, even the smilie can do it ;) I love your Troopie! It would look awful...

in-cab battery - AGM or gel?

The Gel battery I had recommended to me was a Gel-Tech. It is valve regulated and is actually one of the cheaper options I've come across. I'm pretty sure they are made by Deka. It's specs are excellent. I've been finding conflicting reports about the gels gassing though, which is my main...

in-cab battery - AGM or gel?

A BJ74 Land Cruiser. I'll likely mount it in a rear drawer/storage unit. Charged with a 24/12V converter.

in-cab battery - AGM or gel?

Anyone have an opinion which is the safer, more suitable battery type for mounting in the cab? Non starting application, deep cycle to run 12V accessories in my 24V BJ74. I have an email in to Deka (they make both types) but haven't heard back yet.

    Found my next Expedition tire!

One of the Coastal Cruisers runs those on his BJ74. If he sees this I'm sure he'll chime in, but he likes them. He did the Alaska Cruiser Trek on them last year with no problems. They seem to be wearing quite well. They are fairly heavy, especially on a steel rim. For my 74 I'm tentatively...

In Canada you can email Industry Canada and request that your address be hidden from view. Apparently you can't do this in the US?

    Who is using HF?

Oh curse you bj_fjc! You got me thinking how cool that would be. Poking around found some pretty interesting antennas, like these High Sierra models, which get lots of good reviews.: http://www.hamcq.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=91 Hmmm, a guy could get something like that, set it up...

    Need Radio Advice...

The 8800 does dual recieve - you can be talking on one frequency and montoring another at the same time. Nice if you're in touch with vehicles in your group but monitoring a logging frequency, or listening for another friend further afield on a repeater frequency. The 8800 also does cross band...
