    Iridium ZOLEO

I've been looking for satellite communication to add/replace a Montana 680. The Garmin 66i is appealing but I've a hard time convincing myself the $$$ are worth it to carry one device and the plans that don't suit heavy summer use and no use in winter. Today a dealer told me that Iridium has...

I tried a dongle that was laying around and no go. Then tried to find ones that Victron recommended but found all were sold out for a year so I order the simple dongle. The signal from simple dongle was 40%@100'. Once connected the software updated. I've since upgraded to long range and the...

    Wall construction and insulation

Most of the time (if air conditioning isn't used) water vapor is moving from the inside (hot to cold) to outside so a vapor barrier goes on the inside of the wall. Like Joe917 said spray foam is best ..it is a vapor barrier and fills voids 100%. Best to use 1/2lb density in the roof in case...

    Replace this axle?

Be easier installing an electric over hydraulic actuator. Below is a 1000psi pump. They make 1200psi and 1600psi acctuators but I'd be surprised if you need that much pressure. https://www.easternmarine.com/carlisle-hydrastar-brake-actuator-hba-10 If you can find a local service center for...

The inverter won't pass thru unless it is turned on. When there is 2 or more lugs on a terminal flipping the fist one upside down makes adding the next lugs easier.

A great charger uses a battery temp sensor.

Critique my solar charger/battery monitor setup?

PD is better than WAFCO but still not a battery charger. Your solar controller is better than the PD. The manufacutre (Crown) of my batteries wants the Absorption at 14.5V and Equaliztion at 15.5V. Check the parameters you batteries require.

Critique my solar charger/battery monitor setup?

The OP did say that there will be trips once they get there which is why solar would be bennificail and from our experice a 2nd way of charging to back up the solar. Idling the truck or a cheap generator its the OP choice....but I'd be carrying a 2nd 12-36 offshore converter.

Critique my solar charger/battery monitor setup?

Let the solar panels charge the batteries while driving. If you need to charge the batteries more then use a generator or a set of jumper cables from the tow vehicle after you've parked. I agree with others 2x6V isn't enough. For one of our trailers I carried a 2nd set of 6V in the truck along...
