Which I as a consumer appreciate.
I've done a couple put on my the local dealer here in Seattle. Always a great time.
And Evoques do amazing off road (excluding lack of TC and ground clearance). The LR2's on the other hand had to get a tow from my strap a couple times :)
Yup. Brakes are the same on all v8 LR3's.
If you really want some more sidewall, you could get the v6 brakes (I believe carrier and rotor is all, calipers are the same) and import some 17's out of europe.
But 18's are all you need to open up the tire selection options.
For your use, the BFG AT's or duratracs will do well.
I'm run the BFG ATs and my dad runs duratracs on his toyota. They are excellent on the road and pretty dang good offroad as well. The BFG's are certified snow traction devices.
Also given the offroad conditions in the PNW, they will work...
And to keep going on the software lift -
When in offroad height, the computer will automatically lower back to normal when you exceed 30mph. But the other advantage is - I first lift it ~2" with the tool. Then I still have offroad height above that, another +2"
The real benefit is I just keep it in the glove box.
1. Which is huge if you're out on the trail with no laptop or the battery has run dead. Basically you don't rely on anything. Just plug it in an do your job.
2. Since it is so easy to do a software lift, I just plug it in when I'm at the...
285/60/18 you will get no rubbing at stock height
265/65/18 (31.6") - BFG A/T's available in this size and this is what I run. You get a little bit of rubbing on the driver's side front wheel at the front of the wheel opening. The tire touches the fender liner while at maximum turn at stock...
Just to follow up on this - The change occured for the 2008 model year. If you look up the frame part number 2005-07 is the same. This big mount thing is welded to the frame on 2008+ LR3 and carried over to the LR4.
I'm running 265/65/18 and it just barely kissed them when the tires were new...
I wouldn't be too worried about the air suspension - the real issue is only a ripped bag. There are repair kits for ruptured lines and the air dump valves can be disabled.
I've had to override several LR3's out on the trail and the only issue was the lack of terrain response/HDC. The system...
I had this issue an an old elcamino - The issue was the master cylinder rod where it connects to the pedal was out of adjustment - the brake pedal never allowed the MC to return fully, so each time you applied the brakes only 95% of the fluid returned. Basically as you use the brakes, they are...
33's Damn man that is a lot of tire and a lot of work to get them to fit
I don't even think a 33 would clear the later LR3's with a redesigned front body mount (rear of front wheel well). I rub on it with my little old 31.6 BFG AT's. I hope they redesigned it for the LR4.
Oh no, they have been proven. 'Character' over in the UK reported he passed 551,000 miles on his LR3 just this last weekend: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/post1054291.html#1054291
Not true. When looking for mine, several I looked at were not HD but had the lock on the rear axle on the screen. It always showed "unlocked" - since you can't force the diff to lock without being in a situation where the computer says to lock it, there's no easy test to run.
Honestly the only...
My opinion -
1. Tires (wheels if you don't have 18s)
2. IIDTool
3. Skids (motor, trans)
4. Sliders
Tires first - You have stock skids that will do for a while. And you do get +2" in OffRoad mode. Then the IIDTool to get some more height and error correction out on the trail. Then skids and...
