    Fleet on a 96-04 Tacoma?

Hi Folks, Just wanted to float the note that we'll be selling our Fleet on or about May 2013. It's a 2009 MY Fleet, fully loaded except for solar. It's currently sitting in storage for the year. We're not desperate to sell it but we're also not trying to clear some huge profit, either...

    comments solicited about Hallmark Guanella

Meindl Desert Fox boots for overland use

On my fourth pair now. The new version is nice....just enough height for ankle stability without being restrictive. Price has come down but quality is still the same. Still the same great sole and the very breathable without letting dust in.

    For sale: FWC 2012 Fleet

Might consider taking it with you in lieu of a car and purchase a ute / trayback when you get there. Also, FWC has experience shipping their campers to Australia....might be able to work out with them a piggy-back in one of their shipping containers.

    RTT flapping in the wind!

Yes, I had this same experience in the coveted Technitop and concluded that RTTs are great for certain regions, none of which I typically occupy / live. So I cashed in the romantic fascination of a faux-safari accoutrement, sold the Technitop and bought a pop-up camper. All quiet now.

Harley guy going to adventure bike?

I've been listening (and participating in) to the BMW vs. KTM War since 2002 (having owned and ridden both). That has to be in the top 3 of the best threads I've ever read which offer a fair comparison and no trench warfare. Well done!

What's the coldest you've used a FWC w/ arctic pack or similar?

Somewhere just south of 32 degrees is my lowest temperature in our stock FWC Fleet (without an Artic Pack) so nothing really out of the ordinary. We use a down blanket in the winter so we stay snug as a bug in a rug. We definitely use more propane in the winter. No issues with condensation...

Need bolt specs for a pistol grip on Mossberg 500 12 ga.

I have a 500 set up with a pistol grip and white light for home defense. These are my thoughts, FWIW....I think you're going to want to 'weld' your firing hand back to your hip or the side of your torso for stability while using the spot beam or the laser to do the aiming. If you train that...

New to the forum / New Fullsize Ford

The golf photo rocks! Thanks for keeping the Portal real. Best of luck with the new "bread sled". I think the 5.4 would be a pretty good little engine for a family, especially if you re-gear the diffs for heavier loads.

Lets see some full size pictures...

Welcome to the Portal. How do you like the interior on your Dodge? I don't currently own a full-size but I'm researching to purchase one and I've excluded Dodge's from that search because I've heard the quality of the interior (material, fit, finish, etc) is less than what owners expected...

The TARDIS - A Four Wheel Camper Build

I'm not trying to be snarky but if that 10lbs of weight counts as high and aft for your desired specifications, isn't a truck camper simply a bad start point to begin with? And if I missed this part please forgive me, but what is the goal you're trying to achieve that requires such unsual...

Best websites to find used pop-up campers?!?!

+1. Wanderthewest is a great resource. Ski3pin (I think that's the poster's name) is a hawk surveying the online classified ads and posting links to the WTW 'for sale' forum. Usedfourwheelcampers is where I found my loaded Fleet with 3 days total use with several thousand dollars knocked off...

What's my First Love going to be? Land Cruiser or Land Rover?

I don't see this thread "devolving" from a lack of something on the part of the OP. I wish I had been half as focused and coherent as jknobler when I was his age. Let's not forget what it's like to be 17, folks. Perhaps my standards are low or out of touch but I think we should go a little...

spare tire bumper swing away for FS trucks

I called Shrockworks this afternoon to see if they would fab in aluminum. Nope to domestic trucks and nope to aluminum. Asked for a recommendation for full-size pickups and they pointed to Buckstop. Called Buckstop...nope and also nope to swing-aways. Too busy with their existing product...

What kinda highway MPG's you getting with your full sized rig?

If things go as planned, the truck will be inside a container in early 2015 bound for Cartagena for a yearlong trip through Colombia, Peru and Chile. Dodge parts are not as plentiful there whereas Super Duties have been manufactured in Venezuela for some time. However, if things don't go as...

What kinda highway MPG's you getting with your full sized rig?

I think you've convinced me to look at a younger truck. A bone dry '02 PS with low mileage in New Mexico just slipped through my hands and I'm not so sure another one will be available when I'm in the country to buy it or when I need it (i.e, when I take delivery of my camper). I opened up my...
