Full Size Video and Pix in Peru!

Toyota pipe smokers....LOL. We're researching the purchase of a full-size along with a larger pop-up to take the same trip you're on so I guess I'll get to experience that first hand at some point :D .

How do soft sided popup truck campers handle weather conditions?

Yep. Although our Technitop RTT wasn't a trailer, it was similar in design and fabric to the Kamparoo. One night in high winds in Colorado helped me quickly realize the vehicle & trailer-based tent fixation might meet ExPo chic / savoir faire criteria but in reality is only suitable, IMO, for...

6 figures for that car? That's a lot to pay to project an image....surely there could have been a more economical way for the purchaser to achieve his ends.

How do soft sided popup truck campers handle weather conditions?

I've only had one pop-up, a FWC Fleet, but mine has been bombproof. High altitude, low humidity, low altitude, high humidity, cheek-flapping winds, cold weather, hot weather, Gulf Coast rain.....snug as a bug in a rug through everything. Auxiliary battery connected to the vehicle's...

    Ammo can stoves.

Man, he's onto something. Although the titanium wall-tent stove aficionados might wrinkle their nose at the ammo can stove's weight, they can't scoff at the excellent prices. This stove (or stoves rather) is an excellent use of the venerable ammo can.

Dilemma, Truck camper and or Boat??

First and foremost, welcome to Expedition Portal. Glad you took the time to sign up and post. Your thread will get moved by a Mod at some point as the trailers this sub-forum refers to are an animal of different spots. As for your inquiry....there's a lot to chew on there. 1) The truck...

    Camper and Truck Photos

Stan, if I were Tom and you ever needed corrective counseling, I wouldn't chew you out....I'd make you drive to work and sleep in one of those for a week. You'd look like one of those contortionists inside a clear box where the side of their face is like smashed up against their butt or...

The latest improvement on the Four Wheel Pop-up Campers is ...

Hey Rhino, I understood only the first camper in the line in each photo is the same and the only one shown with the new material. My wording could have been clearer. Go figger I'm a language nerd.....there's an idiomatic expression about a cobbler and his children that's probably appropro...

I can't tell much difference from the two photos. Sure, one is lighter but it doesn't look all that different. Maybe shinier? Stanaroo, do you have any close up photos? Incessant, all-day posters like me would love to see an up close photo :D .

    Wanted: BMW Dakar F650GS

Hi OP, F650GS Dakar? I used to own one of those and rode LD on the slab and took it on tough, singletrack and doubeltrack trail (i.e, Devil's Punchbowl). I spent a ton of money hanging bits and bobs on it trying to make it the bike it was advertised to be. After doing all my own...

New FWC layout - what do you think?

Best of luck with this. I think if it were that easy on an aluminum-framed pop-up, it would have been done by now. It can be done with other materials or designs...e.g, Hallmark has a fixed bed and so do hard-sides truck campers. Anyways, let us know how you fare.....many of us are a...

New FWC layout - what do you think?

I think you're getting warmer. Also, I don't think I totally understood the post(s) about the cantilever but, FWIW, the aluminum frame 'band' that runs horizontally around the cabover from the camper's main body is about 6 inches in height. While I imagine it could be made taller allowing the...

New FWC layout - what do you think?

I think if you come from a tent-camping, backpacking or sailing background, the new Fleet on a Tacoma is pretty abundant for a couple and even a family of three, maybe four, with young children. Perfect? No, definitely not. But we're talking about a niche product for campers who are looking...
