New FWC layout - what do you think?

Very nice. That layout for the dinette maximizes use of the Fleet's extra width and I see they installed a shower. That Thetford is a big winner, too. The swivel feature saves entry space and the cassette is a huge advantage. I'm very impressed. This should be a good seller for FWC. Good...

    Considering a Bike - Suggestions?

This bike won't disappoint, IMO. IF, and I say again, IF you think your paved sections will be longer than your dirt sections, get the DR 650. Either way, you're in tall cotton with those two bikes. Been around forever, reliable, metric ton of aftermarket goodies for whatever personalization...

    XPCamper Updates

So, to be clear...this picture shows ONLY the full-size XP and the camper on the far right is NOT the XP Compact? I would have guessed the camper on the far right is the XP Compact given the hinges on the top of the door.

"Adventure" vehicle for a small family?

Since it seems like another Subaru is not high on the list, I'd recommend a 4Runner. I really like those little RAVs but I'm betting you'll outgrow the inside dimensions.

Why to- not be complacent while working on you rig.

Everything Lance said. (Well, Ok, not everything...I'm not smart or patient enough to be an RN.)

    Considering a Bike - Suggestions?

You referenced dual sport motorcycles (KLR) so that's what I'm promoting in my recommendations. Don't know much about the other bikes. With that out of the way.... Might check out the Yamaha WR250R. Sounds small but a lot of folks have done some amazing distance on them...

    Earthroamer/GXV vs. Sportsmobile?

To be fair to the company and owners, there's no doubt the EarthRoamer team produces a pinnacle product with superior componentry. And your advice to test drive both is sound advice/wisdom. No amount of my 'YouTube test driving' amounts to anything other than inch deep research and gut feel...

    Earthroamer/GXV vs. Sportsmobile?

All that body sway happening way up high would make me uncomfortable. For contrast, check out this video, particularly at 00:33, 00:50 and 01:04. Lotta articulation with little movement above translates to driver, and perhaps more importantly, co-pilot comfort. http://youtu.be/m-ldtI6Wpsg...

    Earthroamer/GXV vs. Sportsmobile?

Although I don't own a SMB or an EarthRoamer, we're in the market for a new camper. We're fortunate not to have too many limitations so we're studying all available options (except for a Shachagra-type build which I couldn't achieve even after a decade of vocational studies). The below video...

    Audi Allroad returns in 2012

I loved our Audi. However, when Mommy Dearest was left to her own devices and forgot to have the timing belt changed and it did a little dance amongst the valve guide rods, the repair cost was staggering (over U$D4k back in 2003). I bought a Subaru Outback after that and am happily ever after...

    Full Size - length questions

You might want to consider an older 4WD van which hasn't been outfitted. You'll have all-terrain/all-weather capability and an easily-accessed, protected living and workspace. The empty shell will allow you to outfit it over time from Thermarests and water jugs to drop down bunks, freshwater...

    Dakar 2012

I haven't cared one whit about cars in the past Dakar races but have been somewhat caught up with them this year from the AdvRider "official" race coverage thread. I know nothing of RG's personality but I have to say he's a skilled racer. I'm not ready to believe the ASO accusation of unlawful...
